So, I was on my way home today, about 1.5 miles from the house, climbing up this monster hill here in town. I go to shift into second and as soon as I go to let off the clutch and give it gas, nothing happens. I realize my foot is on the floor, the pedal won't come up off the floor, and the car is just sitting there at about 2k rpms.

Popped the hood to find this:

[?|] The post that the butterfly is on, snapped. That whole bit was just dangling there.

I rolled it backwards down the hill a bit and into a parking lot. So now I guess I have to buy a new TB. [:(]

Now I am wondering ... since this was a 65mm tb, will it make much difference to just get a stock or 67mm tb? It was dyno tuned with this 65mm. I doubt it should make any difference, but who knows.

Yeah, I am thinking I might get the CFM 67mm today and have them rush it out. hate to have my car just sitting in that lot

Yeah, it pains me but at least I get to drive past it each morning and wave to it ... a whopping mile from my house. We live on top of a big ol' hill and I can't idle it up the grade, it's too steep.

Would cost me about $65 to tow it to my house, so I have the guy at the tattoo shop watching it for me and I just ordered a CFM 67mm and had it shipped 2nd day.

I'd hook a towstrap on the back of the car, and pull it up there with something...

Ouch! Thankfully its an easy fix, and perhaps a good reason for an upgrade!

Easy yes, not sure how much of an upgrade from 65mm >> 67mm really is though. It's like 1/10 of an inch difference in diameter. But I am going to check with a machine shop and see if I can get the shaft replaced in the old one. Just can't afford to be down and out on a DD so I bought a new one to get the quick fix.

It's more air, and more are is always good, especially in the Springs. Of course, your Focus is already pushing serious air with that S/C.

Be a decent upgrade though granted its only 2mm but still more air flow is always good no matter how you get it.

Well good news is that I might be able to move my car now.

BlkThunder saw my post on the "other board" and offered to bring his TB over for me to use, so I can get my car home. Nice to have a fellow jetter / fanatic here in town, esp one with an SVT.

Car made it home, thanks to the help from Chris. After driving the car with the stock TB, I DEFINITELY felt a difference. I don't care if doesn't help much on a dyno or whatever ... the aftermarket TB's just make the car drive nicer.

Anyways, CFM got me the part with the quickness - ordered it on Tuesday and had it by Thursday afternoon. I was killing me, drving my girls Altima around, now I am a happy motorist again.

Can I have your busted TB??

I am going to run it to a machine shop and see about getting it fixed first, but you will be the first to know.
