Anyone know if there's a gasket between the stock exhaust manifold and stock cat? I keep burning up gaskets, and I've tried that copper silicone and it burned too. Can I just bolt the two parts together without a gasket, or should I find something else to put in there? I've burned up 3 gaskets so far, and I'm tightning the hell out of the bolts! My mechanic says to tighten the bolts between the cat and header, then tighten the header to the cylinder head. Well, that's what I did the first time, and it still burned up. What do ya say?[???:)]

wow...I "heard" there are suppose to be gaskets there but I "heard" this and may be wrong...contact local ford dealership and ask the mechanics...if they don't know the dealership needs new mechanics :) they work on those thigns all day long!

i used my own gasket, which was a flexpipe gasket that came w/ the FR header for some reason, i just put it on there crooked and it matched up well, and tightened them down, and it was metal so i dont see it burning up

I used the gaskets that FC sent me with the flex pipe. they work good. Havent gotten a leak. Uhh, you can run without a gasket, but after a week goes by, it will start leaking.

Runnin' without a gasket will not only cause leaking, but your car will sound like a lawnmower. Use a stock gasket from the Ford dealership. If it continues to burn up, you might just need to re-evaluate the exhaust system you bought, or just have a pro take care of it.
