OK so i have a 2002 ford focus lx with 2.0 spi
motor is dead
i would have to replace my block and head with internals and some tranny work in order to get my car back to normal

WHY?
when i can upgrade.
my choice is to go D23
but i will base my choice on what i find and how good of a shape its in
so zetec and D20 are still in play

so im going to begin searching for
motor,tranny,ecu,and wiring harness package in good shape

what would i need besides that for the engine swap?
if i was to find a donor car with engine bay intact and working
would i be able to take every component out and just drop it into my car?
if not what would i have to keep from my spi now or what would i have to change?

i will be taking alot of pics of the process
maybe ill throw up a how-to aswell
any info helps, thanks

i would definitely get a entire donor car in which ever you wanna do the swap to... will definitely save time and money... by just getting engine harness ecu tranny you'll almost certainly need a little minor part here and there and you'll have to stop...find that part... spend more for it...id go ahead and get a donor car to start with...lol...also they've had some real good how to's on the different swaps... may help you decide between which motor to choose...

hell if i could do a v8 swap for cheap and easy i would do that without hesitation
but we all would have it that if that was true

just an update,
i checked out the local junk yard today and their is a 2.3 duratec i found

unknown info about it
tranny looks messed up from accident but main block looks good along with the head
the wiring is cut so id have to get new wiring harness
and there is still cpu inside

itll cost me under 200 to purchase with a 30 day garantee
what are your guys thoughts?
and is there a way for me to find out how many miles where on it?

I'd inspect that engine real close if the tranny is damaged from an accident. If I were you I'd probably keep searching (for a different engine)

ya the tranny being messed up usually means u would have to closely check every part of the engine inside and out because ya 200 is cheap for a good motor (2.3 which i have) but then again u get what u pay for as the old saying goes. Just check it out and if its good then its good and pick it up if it is a little bit on the iffy side id pass on it.
