: Ebay Kit?

Okay so i'm probably going to get flamed but whatever.
So as I was browsing for used kits and superchargers, I stumbled across a "brand new" turbo kit from a dealer on ebay.
The cost is extraordinarily low. $1088.00 I think it was.
I have been wanting boost all my life basically, however I just dont have 5k to shell out.
This kit is supposed to be a "full" kit, minus injectors, tuning, etc.
My questions are,
Do any of you guys have this kit?
Is it a piece?
Would you buy a kit from ebay?
I know it is not as good of quality as some other makes. I.E. Tom's kit or Massive's Thrustt kit. But I mean $1088 for a kit seems really stinking good. I just dont want to wait forever to get a "real" kit. I am going to tech this fall and will be finishing my senior year in HS too. I will be very busy.
Mainly I want to know if this kit is a waste of time, or something to look into?

Dont buy turbo kits from ebay. You will end up replacing damn near everything in it. By the time your done replacing all the shit, you will have spent more than if you just did it right.
Save up for a while longer. I am, and I know its going to be well worth it.

Thats what I was afraid of happening. I didnt think it was going to be that great of quality.

Most of them are universal. Turbo, oil lines, and intercooler. I never seen one with a maf tube, injectors or manafold. The manafold alone is going to cost at least 500.

yeah i did notice that there was no manifold. And yes i do realize that there isnt a kit that comes with EVERYTHING.

And since it doesn't come with everything, that $1088 will increase very rapidly. Manifold + injectors + MAF tube + tuning, etc etc, will easily add $1500+. You can go cheap on a few parts (eBay intercooler parts), but you don't want cheap turbos or wastegates for one. Orange got lucky with an eBay turbo, but I don't think you can depend on them to be good every time.

thats probably what i'm going to do. I was just curious about this kit.

You get what you pay for IMO. That site isn't all that bad if you buy some small stuff but anything mechanical related I would have my doubts, as said in previous posts, save up and do it right the first time around, will save moolah in the long run.

uhm, i wouldnt trust one of those kits, but locally, there are several hondas running those kits, i asked them about quality and they said the couplers,wg, and turbo sucked ass, i asked them about piping and they said it was good enough, one of them is running 12 highs

Turbo will be low quality, the turbo in my kit is 795.00 about 80% of what that whole kit cost that alone should tell you something
piping is just piping and does NOT fit the Focus or any car with enough time and money you can make the piping work after buying about 50% of it over again
IC is a 89.00 ebay special altho it will work fine for about 18/20 psi they have a lot of boost loss
I also vote stay away from them

Just get Toms? Its what 1400, maybe 2300 after you get everything?
08-12-2009, 10:01 PM
^more like 3500+ after you get all, but if you compare it with other 5000+ kits for some cars, its a nice price

i was told Toms comes out close to 5k when its all done and said
