: I Have An Idea
levin.matthew 08-02-2009, 12:46 AM So I'm not quite sure if this has been done before or anything, or even I have even seen it here on FF. I want to paint the ?pillars? [scratch] on the outside of my car...I know I'm not using the correct terminology so I included a picture that has the items circled.
My question is, should I paint them red, or is there a company out there who sells color matched red vinyl I can just wrap these?

disciplerocks 08-02-2009, 12:54 AM I don't know about that but if you go that far, get some painted tribute door handles too.
kenzx3 08-02-2009, 12:54 AM There's a guy up here who tried that once, looked like crap IMO as it kinda stook out alot.
norcalfocus01 08-02-2009, 12:56 AM Check TFB, I tihnk they sell vynil. But I know there are replacements or overlays foer the. Send a PM to KeepitKaui, he got somthing for his sedan.

looked like crap? were they color matched? i was going to color match them
jasper46 08-02-2009, 01:06 AM not a fan of color matched b-pillars. kinda looks like a neon. Why not carbon fiber b-pillars?
_spyder 08-02-2009, 01:13 AM They look good glossy black, but not color matched
DrkKnight614 08-02-2009, 01:13 AM If you do it it'll look really really bad...trust me. Theres a reason they are black to go unnoticed and to flow with the windows. If you paint them, you'll disrupt that flow
TerryB 08-02-2009, 02:08 AM I did mine a few months ago and only one person noticed. Which means they don't stick out at all. if they did I'm sure it would have been mentioned by more than one person.
Ripped_06_ST 08-02-2009, 02:16 AM If you did paint them I would go glossy black like the ST's. It looks really nice especially when they are all shined up. [:)]
NeweracapMAN 08-02-2009, 02:29 AM id say DONT DO it (paint) i mean if you want to do vinyls decalfx.com has vinyls the vinyl mught be a better solution simply becuase if you dont like it you spent $20 and you can jsut rip it off
if you screw up painting it then you already sanded it etc so it will look even worse
Eklipse113 08-02-2009, 03:55 AM ^^ i agree. better safe than sorry
akcapfoc 08-02-2009, 06:15 AM Here's an idea: photoshop it and see how it looks:

CFed28 08-02-2009, 06:26 AM My dad did that to his old x3 looked like crap then he decided to get carbon fiber ones and that looked a whole lot better. Doesn't look tobad on yours actually do the portion by the quarter window as well and it'll look a little better
TaylorinAlaska 08-02-2009, 08:05 AM It looks like the kind of feature that manufacturers do to make a lower end car look more classy.
Whats wrong with the black? I like the one big window look, lol.
DerekGrugan 08-02-2009, 09:10 AM this is great idea everyone. mine are so dull and faded, they just look horrible. im deffinetly doing this with gloss black vinyl next weekend when i have some time
levin.matthew 08-02-2009, 12:04 PM ok all...thanks for the help!
I have decided that I am not going to do color matched b pillars. So what do you guys think...black or carbon fiber?
FocusedSlayer 08-02-2009, 12:34 PM I like the look of Carbon Fiber
DerekGrugan 08-02-2009, 01:05 PM carbon fibre looks kick ass but i think a gloss black will blend in with the tinted windows more, cf would still give that faded greyish look from a distance i reck'n lol
Tom-E09 08-02-2009, 01:09 PM i like the carbon fiber look....its a subtle detail that adds alot
TnFocus 08-02-2009, 01:28 PM Gloss black ftw!
levin.matthew 08-02-2009, 03:22 PM gloss black or carbon fiber...what a hard decision! [?|]
I'm kind of leaning towards gloss black but I don't have tinted windows - probably won't get tinted windows for that matter.
TnFocus 08-02-2009, 03:55 PM What about carbonfiber windows ;P. Either one would look good, carbon fiber if you have a CFhood.
Marbs 08-02-2009, 04:18 PM BLACK, Carbon fiber, IMO, is WAY over done by every "Ricer" out there. I can understand getting Carbon Fiber body parts to lighten up the car but PLEASE paint it when you put Carbon Fiber on. I personally am not a Carbon Fiber fan.
levin.matthew 08-02-2009, 04:29 PM ok guys...thanks for the help.
I will be doing them in black vinyl
