Like the title says, I successfully installed a new flywheel over the weekend, along with a new clutch/pressure plate (centerforce dual friction), new throw-out berring/slave cylinder, and new axel seals. I am now in the clutch break-in period, which is killing me!!!! I wanna feel the performance with the reduced flywheel weight!!! lol

Before I did the install i knew the tranny was going to make a little bit more noise, but I had no idea it would make it all the time! It's worst when I am in gear de-celerating. Is this the case with anyone else that has this?

Next question: Is there any special rules to follow with my choice of tranny oil? I think part of my noisy gear problem is due to such thin oil in the tranny (cheap ATF. Chose it because i was doing axel seals, wanted to make sure they didnt leak before I put in the expensive stuff). I picked up some Mobil 1 sythetic gear oil last night, but have since been told that may be too thick. Am I safe to run it?

Last by not least, how much performance increase am I really going to see? Someone please tell me a lot lol. It was such a pain in the ass to install it all, I wanna make sure I will see an increase that will make the bad taste of the install go away lol.

pick yourself up some XT-M5-QS from a dealer. specifically designed for the mtx-75.

personally I dont "feel" any performance gain whatsoever from light flywheels.

I get the same noise from the tranny since I had mine installed. Dont expect any huge gains, you will feel the engine rev a little faster tho. Im not so sure with the MTX-75 flywheel but, you also may notice a loss in bottom end torque, I know I did. My flywheel weighed a ton.

ok, after all the hype about alum flys.. I gotta say , and I don't mean this to rub it in...my new Luk is really nice. No chatter...engine runs smoother, on decelelration in gear it sounds great compared to the changgie sound with the ol alum fly. I have not really noticed a performance change to the negative. I can pull up to a light now and have people give me a tthumbs up over the looks of my car and not be embarrassed by the sound. Oh ya the shift is super smooth. And I m not broke!
