: Trailer Hitch

I'm lookin into getting a hitch for my car to use a bike rack hitch and possibly towing a 4x8 Uhaul trailer. I'm just wondering if there's any bolt on kits out there available for my 07 ZX4 ST. I see a few on ebay. I also imagine I'd need the wiring for the lights.

I play in a band so I'm wondering if I'll have any issues driving in a car with 5ppl and a trailer loaded with gear.

ya, u will, since its a light fwd car, the weight will be on the rear and lift off the front, greatly decreasing breaking and maneuverability. Its unsafe to tow a trailer as is, but w/ 5 people in the car, thats asking for trouble!!

I checked that site the other day, but didn't see what they did (or didn't) carry.
Sorry about that.

But, from that same thread:
I put a curt on my seden bolted on no drilling i believe its rated at 500 lbs. tongue wt. ive had my Harley on the trailer its about 700 lbs also 1000 lbs of top soil

Off the top of my head I think minus the curb weight of the trailer, our gear totals to about 800-900lbs. I can't imagine hauling a small Uhaul 4x8 trailer would make that big of a difference as long as I load the trailer correctly. Obviously tho I'll have to keep more distance and brake sooner, but that goes without saying.

I'm sure some one on here has a sedan/hatchback and has had no issues with pullin a trailer.

Check your Owners Manual.
It should list rated tongue weight and towing capacity for your car.

IIRC, most Foci are rated for 1,000lbs towing / 100lbs tongue weight.
So, if you've got 800-900lbs of gear, the trailer can only weigh 100-200lbs itself.
^^^Better get a light trailer!

Oh...here's some trailer wiring info if you need it.

Be sure to check out 2007ZX3Stick's posts...he seems to know what he's talking about, and he has a 2007 model. [;)]

I had Uhaul install a hitch to my '03 zx3 and I pulled a 700+- lb. trailer from San Diego to Detroit. People looked at me funny, but my zx3 handled like a beast. Longer stopping distance is inherent, but I had NO issues.
