if youre dead set on it, go for it, but i would reccomend considering going f/i instead

F/I = forced induction in other words turbocharger/supercharger/nitrous

it would be cheaper for you to build the zetec you have to the same specs as the svt. the svt is basically a jacked up standard zetec. you really dont want the getrag 6 speed anyway. it doesnt do much of anything for fuel economy and it sucks in drag racing because the gears are way too tall. besides that the standard mtx-75 5 speed that comes with a standard zetec is much cheaper on parts and it seems to hold up to much more punishment with a good clutch and differential backing it up.

I would suggest you keep the MTX75 trans and install the 4.06:1 gears and Quaife differential.

only put 4.06 gears in there if you are going to stay N/A (i.e. not going turbo, supercharged)

what do the gears do for u . faster accel or slower, more rpm @ freewayspeeds?

basically it shortens your gears. you accellerate much faster at the cost of top speed and fuel economy. instead of maxing out at 30mph in 1st gear you will now max out at like 25. in second instead of 60mph you max out at 50. follow? this is great for lower hp N/A cars but for turbo its bad because with our cars anything over 200hp 1st gear is a joke anyway. you spin like hell. 250 and up forget about 1st and most of 2nd. just imagine how hard it would be to keep traction with shortened gears? the higher the hp you have its usually pretty good to have slightly taller gears instead of shorter. unless you have helluva big set of drag slicks up front

man that is so true!!!! I only have 170whp and I already spin like hell in 1st...just sitting there and waiting on it to grip [hah]
