Well, finally made it out to the drag strip this past weekend and the best time of the day was a 8.5 in the 1/8th mile and that was with a 2.099 60' time. I think I can get it down to an 8.3 with a bit more practice. The car was a bit rich at around 10.2-10.3 so maybe Tom can lean it out a bit more so I can drop it down by another 10th or so. Do any of you guys have a hard time shifting from 2nd to 3rd? It seems that quite a few times it didn't want to go into 3rd gear.
I'm posting this here as well as in the drag racing forum since Tom did the tuning and built the motor so props to Tom-bo Slice for all his help, especially over this past weekend [;)]

I want to know about this "E-Brake trick" !!

when you are sitting on the line getting ready to launch pull up the ebrake give it some gas and start slipping the clutch just to the point before it starts dragging the back tires. when that light turns green you let the ebrake down and take off. it helps with the launch by pre-loading your suspension. its kinda hard on your clutch but it really helps with the 60ft times. same trick with an automatic except you dont have to worry with a clutch pedal.
what wheel/tire setup were you running?
good job on the quick times.

I'm running Rota 15x7.5 Slipstreams with Hoosier DOT Drag Radials. I will try that ebrake trick next Sunday.

That thing's hot!
And I hate to hijack but about the e-brake trick for an auto... can the e-brake even hold the car still enough to rev for launch? Seems like powerbraking it along with the e-brake wouldn't really work and the trick wouldn't work at all unless you like launching at 2k RPM lol

it doesnt exactly work as well with automatics unless you have a fully built lentech with trans brake, 2800 stall, yada yada, (ahem, tom that thing is nice btw) but the trick is to lock the e-brake and give it as much gas as you possibly can without dragging the back tires. i dont have any experience using the foot brake trick on automatic FWD cars. now RWD is a whole 'nother story.
just try a couple different things next time you go to the track and see which one yeilds the best 60 ft. try just using the e-brake, then the foot brake, then both, and then just stomping the gas without either. if you are feeling brave you can rev it in neutral and slap it into drive but i dont suggest that. you would most likely end up breaking something.

Yeah I'm pretty sure I'd be picking metal teeth up off the track if I did that.
Powerbraking works ok, I tried giving the car gas with the e-brake yesterday, it just squeaked and rolled lol.
