: Annoying rattling sound on passenger door

I've had my car for almost a year now and recently, I noticed that there is a rattling noise coming from the passenger side door near the door lock.
If I roll the window down half way, it stops.
If the window is rolled up all the way, the rattle noise is audible.
Anyone else have this issue or know how to fix it..?.... or must I take the door panel off and investigate ?
[confused]

Good question. Mine does the same thing. When I'm just riding around and when my bass hits really hard. [;)]

Why cant you just take it to the dealer? Your car is still under warranty so you should make the most of it.

I guess going to the dealer for warranty repair is an option but I'd rather fix it myself if it's easy...[limp]

The reason why I suggest people going to the dealer if they are still covered under warranty is because they will document this stuff. Hopefully if there are enough people that go they can possibly prevent this defect in future cars or perhaps issue a TSB.[:)] But I understand your point[thumb] .

It's a known problem on a good 10% of Focus's. It's an easy fix for your Dealer, and trying to fix it yourself may hurt your warrenty claim if you do bring it in in the future. :)

Isn't that irritating? I was driving the other day and noticed the same thing. Checked the seat and belts for noise, wiggled the door panel etc. Mine did this at less than 500 miles. My 2001 SE had a loose outer handle on the right rear, but my 2003 ZTS makes a different noise, kind of like a piece of plastic flapping in the wind on the outside of the car. What's the fix?

ive never had that problem with my 2001 se and now i dont have any problems with my 2003 zts. the only time i heard some noise on my 2001 se is when i had the radio blasting and i had some cd cases on the side but thats the only time i heard the noise.

For those of us no longer under warranty, tell us how to fix it if you know how.[thumb]

This is happening to my car as well mainly on the drivers side, I took it in but it didn't do it when they "took it for a test drive". Anybody know what is causing it so I can stop this or tell the dealership exactly what it is. They aren't big on trying to find something, especially when it is warrenty work.

I have that same flapping plastic sound. I have found it to be either my drivers side outer door handle is a bit loose and/or the plastic covers that protect the brake pipes near the rear wheels, underneath the car, these flap depending how fast I am going, mostly happens though when I reach around 80mph.

btw:
This thread is old but good that some people use the serach button and respond to a related topic instead of making a new one.

I have an irritating buzz where the seatbelt atatches to the piller.. my 03 did that too.. and I have a rattle on the passenger side that sounded like from the door, but turned out to be the far right vent in the dash rattling.... check that out too...
