I'm new to the Ford Focus Family and have a problem. My daughter's Focus Engine Quit. 2.0L VIN:P SOHC. Yep Valve seats did it in. Block is gone. So is the head. I have a fresh reman head for the Focus, so I just want to swap out a good block from a 99 Escort VIN P SOHC to my 00 Focus VIN P. Will this 99 Escort short block swap out to the 00 Focus with no problems? It appears that mounting into engine compartment looks ok, but what about everything else? Oh, both automatics. Help me, please! [ohcrap]

I saw a post in an earlier thread that said the blocks had different cooling ports.

When I build the Focus SOHC engine I have to look for the Focus block the interchange books say the ZX2 block will NOT interchange , I have never looked into why and these books are rarely wrong

The difference is that the Escort does not have a axle shaft support on the engine, so the blocks do not have the provisions for it, the Focus needs that axle support. I never got a chance to look if they could be drilled/tapped easy enough or not.
