I just picked up an 01 Focus SE last night. It has 128K on it. I picked it up for $500. Its not in the best shape haha. I did a compression test on the engine. Cylinders 1,2 and 4 showed 150 even. Cylinder 3.... well..... It shows nothing at all hahaha. I almost already have the head off. Oh, and the rear suspension is really messed up. The camber is way off. It blew two tires when my friend drove it and the new tires that are on it are almost gone too. I figured either the shock or sprinds are worn out in the rear. Once I get some pics of it I will post them up. Oh, and HI everyone

Grats on your find. Use that bunk cylinder as an excuse to get forge innards :P

I am going to be pulling the motor out tonight. I know it has a problem with burning lots and lots of oil haha. When my friend owned it we went to go get some food one day and when she picked me up all I heard was the engine knocking like crazy. First thing I asked was if it had any oil. She was like, oh thanks for reminding me I have to add a quart or two. Lets just say it took more then two quarts to quiet it down haha. I am going to rebuild the whole engine. Its also sludged to $h!t.

well....... haha.... actually the car was already going downhill before she got it. it wasnt in the best condition. she kept it a live as long as she could. then she got a new car. she did change the oil and other maintenance at the proper intervals. It just started using a lot of oil and was hard to keep up with. also the rear camber was already off when she got it.

lol You could always nickname the car Smokey if you wanted to as a reminder of it's past.

you could just drop a cheap motor into it too, wouldn't be too bad.

^^^ Agreed. Our motors are extremely easy to come buy and you can usually find one at your local pull-apart for a few hundred bucks with fairly low miles on it. Plus, Ford made It REAL easy to interchange all the motors in the line, so if you set aside a weekend, you could probably get it done. It's kinda like a honda.... except for AMERICAN!!!! (hehehe, I kid, I kid.)
And congrats on the find man. You most definitely bought the right car. And most definitely came to the right place!!!! Everyone on here (....or at least most of us) know what were talking about and as you've already seen, were all quite nice.
Welcome to the Addiction my friend, and HAPPY TUNING!

Mike, b16sir1991 is selling Ford Racing brand new zetec crate engines (fully assembled from oil pan to throttle body) for $1250 plus drop shipping. 0 miles, might be the way to go, unless you want to rebuild the existing motor for booooooooooost!

I pulled the engine out last night. It looks rough, all the more reason to make it better. Is there anything I should look into doing to the engine or the engine bay while I have it out of the car? Tomorrow I will be taking it to my friends restoration shop. I rebuild engines for him. So I got everything I need there to rebuild it right. Well, minus the machining. I can get that done for a real good price too.
