ok so some of you might know that i am looking for another focus. my baby (#2872) was totaled [nutkick] in FEB and i am thinking i want another focus. now i have a little problem..... do i buy a 04 comp orange focus or a 04 saleen n2o. both are ready for sale in cali... and i can get either one i want. price is not a huge issue but the N2o is about 3k more. i guess what i am looking for is what would you buy? [idea]

I'd say svt. Saleens are nice and all but personally I'd get the svt

imo 04 comp orange cuz its more subtle, has HIDs and recaro seats. but the saleen is more rare and has a wide bodykit. so maybe which ever has lower mileage.

This is a good question, they both have their pros and cons, I guess it really just depends on what ur looking for. The SVT is fully loaded, cleaner looking exterior, but the saleen has the 2.3Duratec w/ a much more aggressive exterior. However the svt has better braking (unless ur getting the brembo edition saleen) but when it comes to handling, they're both pretty equal.

If you were looking at the EAP, the headlights/recaro/wheels are a big plus!
But with saleen, all u need is a bottle and u got a 14 sec. car with much more to improve. Not to mention the saleen has those sweet momo seats.

This is tough decision...

but if it was the eap model, id prolly get that since u said the saleen is 3k more, with the money i'd save from the saleen, i'd put it as a down for a xios turbo kit.

id say svt cause i already have a saleen. haha. just to let u no, my saleen kills on svts. ha ha.

wat color is da saleen by da way??

oh n IanMo, da saleen doesnt have a widebody. theyre just flares.

oh, well then widebody or not, they still look super nice. so does that still mean you can put wider rims on the saleen?

The Saleen is an 04? So it's a 2.3L duratec correct? I would say go for the Saleen. While the SVT is great and all, the Zetec is an old platform. Might as well stay with the new. Not to mention it's much easier to tune the duratec than it is the SVT.

By the way, you only pull on a stock SVT off the line because of your torque from the added displacement and lower gearing. This would be true of any 2.3 Duratec. It doesn't matter that yours is a Saleen. At higher speeds and in a canyon / road course the SVT will own because of the top end power, higer rev limit, and it has taller gearing for the corners.

this is a discussion forum so my 2 cents go as follows: a turbo/ nitrous/ supercharger(idk if they have it for the 2.3) on the saleen and it would lay a smack down..

I have videos of saleen vs svt against each other if you guys really would like to know the power difference. I'd have to get approval from Tavi and Richard first though, lol.

not to mention i dyno'd richards saleen and it dyno'd a baseline 153ish but we couldnt hit redline because of the stupid governor.. this means that its very close to 170 @ da crank..

What rpm where you at in that gear doing the dyno. The governer kicks in real hard in my car so I can only imagine in richards car. damn ford engineers.

Keep in mind the svt trans is geared more for taking turns while the duratec 5speed is the opposite.

A stock 2.3 Duratec dynoes at the crank at:
Horsepower: 145 @ 5750 rpm
Torque (lb-ft): 149 @ 4250 rpm

With an intake the duratec will be at around 135 ish to the wheel, from what i remember, the svt will make more hp, duratec more in torque.

I'm not sure about the gearing on the svt's but the 2.3's gearing is really low. 3.41

yea dude it hit hard, it felt like i pegged it off the rev limiter.

yea but richards isnt just a duratec.. idk what saleen does but they crank up the power lol

^For power they only have a center exit exhaust over the stock duratec. But that's pretty much it.

i would get the saleen if it has the 2.3 duratec

it has alot more power to be had

theres no wayy its just the exhaust.. cuz he made 150ish to the wheels.. im sure he has the dyno graph to prove it..

Here's the exact #'s
152bhp 155lb-ft

The only engine mods it has over the stock 2.3 is exhaust and maybe an air filter.
The automatic however has short gearing (3.73)

theres no way unless he bought the car with unknown mods cuz he makes that to the tire..

Well every dyno is different, mustang dynos for example always tend to get very high #'s. I''m sure if I dyno my car to one of those i'd be making close to 300. But in general I'm at 250whp. Same goes with the SVT, I'm sure they will dyno at higher #'s in a different dyno. I just wanna be fair. LOL.

At around 150whp on a 2.3L You will need more mods than a typical intake, exhaust mod.
I remember going to FS on dyno days, everyone with an intake on a 2.3 generally made around 130-135 whp to the wheels. A bone stock 2.3 Duratec is around 225 or something to the wheels.

BTW to the OP, here's a nice thread that talks about the difference between SVT and 2.3L, also are u leaning to getting one or the other?

wen i dyno'ed my car it did like 140 to da wheels n i didnt have da intake at dat time. i have da graph somewhere, just dont no where it is.

but yeah....

oh n i cant go to FJ anymore. got banned for life from dat shit. lol.
