hey guys hows it goin? i'm a new owner of a new 2009 vista blue metallic SES sedan. I was on my way to school today and the sun was shining on the display in the center of the dash and I noticed an area on the right that says "external temp" but nothing ever turns on there. theres also a bunch of other things that never turn on, like this set of bars that increase in length (signal strength maybe?). Since it looks like this stuff was obviously built in, is there any way to activate it? or maybe there is some way to mod it....well if anyone has any idea let me know! thanks [cool]

theres a thread on this already (not being rude or anything!) that is the external temp display and the compass. the bars and the other numeric display are for auto climate control settings (fan speed and inside temp... remember this display is shared with oodles of other ford models that have auto climate control). i contacted big mike naughton ford and the response was that there are sensors that are eitehr already on the car or can be purchased. you then take it to the dealer and unlock these features but someone has already proven that it may not be this simple. until i get back and put up money for sensors and try to get it activated or someone else becomes a guinea pig i cannot say for sure.

thanks for the response. ya i looked through those threads but none were recent. this is crap if the displays are there, and my friggin brochure thing says im supposed to get outside temp and compass. i'm wondering if i should take it back to the dealer and see what they can do. i mean, if everythings there ford should just allow me to come in and have it activated. right?

no one can confirm if the sensors are already there. to have it activated you will at least need the sensors
