I apologise if this is not the right forum but it's the closest I could find.
I wish to buy a Ford Focus Trend 1.6. The build date would be from 2004 onwards. I am looking at a power rating of between 74/101 (kW/PS) and 85/116 (kW/PS).
Would you consider 74/101 (kW/PS) to be under-powered for this model? I would also be very grateful for general opinions of the the car.
Thanks very much!

I'm going to change the title of this thread, and move it to General Chat where I hope you'll get a better answer. Tech chat is mainly for cars that have problems.
I'm in the US, we don't have the same engines, so I can't comment.

Mostly what we have here in the states is the 2.0L Zetec's which come rated at 97-127kw, then you have the Duratec which comes as a 2.0 or 2.3 depending on the year rated at 115kw roughly. But being that you are getting a 1.6L and judging by the weight of the car you are wanting to get I would safely say that 74kw would be sufficient power if you are just wanting to use it to drive around and not do any modding to it. 74kw isn't going to make a drag racer but it is good enough to get you around day to day and be easy on the gasoline budget as well. I have owned heavier cars in the past that had lesser rating than what the 1.6L is offering and they seemed to get around just fine. That's just my opinion on this and hopefully it helped you out some. Also to note, welcome to Focus Fanatics by the way. [thumb]
P.S. Does the SA mean South Africa or South America? I know these models are sold in some countries in South America but was not sure if they were sold in South Africa or not.

it depends on what kind of driving you want to do, if ur gonna be driving on the autobahn, then no, not even close!, but for city driving, there is nothing wrong w/ saving a little gas!!

Hi, thanks for the reply. Actually it stands for SA but I am in Germany at the moment. I do think they sell Fords in SA though - it's a popular car.

I think we have a couple of members on here from South Africa, I may be wrong though. I am sure they do sell Focus in SA but they would be of Euro spec which is what most of the guys here drool over in the States lol. Anyways, hope you decide to get the Focus and come on here posting pictures of your new Focus. We will all be waiting.[;)][driving]
