I can't find info on this anywhere. I wanna build a 2.0 Zetec or 2.3 Duratec motor for my 2000 Focus LX to replace the anemic 2.0 CVH motor and slide it in, but I need to know:
A. Are the wiring harnesses/ linkages different?
B. I wanna get a different tranny, but is it needed? (Automatic is in now, and that's what I want, but are the newer ones better/ same?)
c. Engine/ tranny mounts the same?
I can find all the parts I need locally, but what do I need.? Thanks ahead of time for any help!

The 2.0 zetec would be your best bet. I would say unless you want to go with a manual tranny the auto you have now is about all you have option wise.

Cool, thanks man. It's gonna happen sooner than I thought. CVH motor just blew up today.

That sucks. Hopefully you can find a good candidate to swap.

I'm not positive, but I am pretty sure the mounts are the same, at least the rear mount is. Escorts with the SPI and Zx2s with the Zetec share the same mounts, so I don't see any reason why Ford would change it up in the focii ... but I'm not positive.

First things first...
I can't find info on this anywhere.
You should try using the search button, there have been NUMEROUS topics on this swap... It's been done before. Lots!
Are the wiring harnesses/ linkages different?
Yes!
I wanna get a different tranny, but is it needed? (Automatic is in now, and that's what I want, but are the newer ones better/ same?)
I don't know about the automatics, but the standards have different transmissions (IB5 in the SPI and MTX-75 in the Zetec)
Engine/ tranny mounts the same?
No, they are not the same.
You will need a lot of parts: This is a quick partial list from my SPI to Zetec Swap... from memory, so it is likely not all there:
Engine (duh!) (I'm assuming it comes with the intake and exhaust manifold)
Tranny
ECU
Enigne Wiring harness and main ECU wiring harness (this is the big one which goes from the engine all the way to the fuel pump, I spliced the part of the harness that goes to the rear of the vehicle in at the passenger side kickpanel)
Half Shafts
Intake tube
Shift cables
Shifter (old one might work)
Alternator
Power steering pump
Power steering line
AC Compressor (might be able to get your old one to work by rotating it 180 degrees)
Clutch hydraulic hose
Cruise Control Module
Coolant lines
Fuel line (I spliced mine in)
Clutch/Pressure Plate/Flywheel (if manual)
Throw-out bearing/Clutch slave cylinder
Motor and tranny mounts
Plan to replace all gaskets and seals when you have the engine out, along with regular maintenance items (or do it later when it's 10x harder, your choice): :D
Axle seals
Rear main seal
Timing belt
Accessory belt
As I said, I probably forgot a bunch of things, but these are the big ones. If you have a donor car it is a lot easier as you can grab parts as you need them.
Here are a few pics from my swap:

Thanks for the help man. Engine should be here this week. It was ordered through LKQ, so I haven't any idea if it's the CVH motor, or a ZETEC. Either way, I don't care at this point. I need my car back.
