what is the popular choice for exhaust? the right choice? i dont want alot of exess noise, but a nice sound is always good. also i like the look of dual, any thoughts on that.

dual exhaust is [thumbd] in my book on a 4 cyl. its just pointless.

as for exhaust for your focus... everything i have heard about the MBRP is good. check out their website i think there is a pretty good deal going right now.

any focus sedan exhaust will fit your SPI, so find one you like with the sound you want and live happily ever after.

ah the beauty of getting hitched. congrats, and sympathy. do you know how long i have on that sale. i missed the cheap price on my rims and i do not want to miss this sale also. i will borrow from some-one if i have to. 199 comp to 319 i think it was. hey i'm in college, i can do something crazy like sell my-self, and write it off as finding my-self. on second thought, borrowing sounds good.

i am not sure how long the sale lasts, but out of curiosity i called the toll free #. there was no one in the office, but i left a message asking how long the sale would last. i should hear back from them tomorrow, i hope.

thanks s2. that is the direct link!

(i was to lazy to worry about posting it. i figure a person can click twice. lol. especially since the focus exhaust is right on top of the main page.)

two clicks was asking a little much. but hey, i can write it off as exercise. clicks are low carb right?

crazy_urn

is the mbrp exhaust really that good? i read a post where a guy with an svt has it and likes it alot. do you guys know what type of gains you get from it? or should i go with borla? oh and congrats on your upcoming wedding crazy_urn

Hey buddy! thanks for the congrats.

I have heard very good things about both the borla and the MBRP. you may want to take a close look at the product reviews on this and other focus forums. the final decision is all based on what you want. Me personally, i would rather save a bit of $ and go with the MBRP, which from everything i have hear is just as good as the rest.

As for gains. you should see a slight HP gain, and possibly slight mpg gain. I do not know numbers off my head, but you will notice a differance. the sound will probably be the largest change though.

Additionally,
i received an e-mail from MBRP this morning telling me that the sale on the focus exhaust is currently schedualed to run to the end of the summer. they did not give me an exact date, and of course this may change at any time with or without notice, but i thought i would pass along the limited information i have.

I have seen alot of different systems out there, but I persoanly tend to stay with brand names that have more history behind them, call me brand loyal if you must :P I have a magnaflow cat back.

that is interesting. is that ztec oriented? can the spi with bolt ons get too loud?

crazy_urn
07-15-2004, 06:49 PM
the ppl complaning are zetec owners, but that does not neccisarily mean the thread is zetec specific (hence why it is in general focus chat)

i honestly think it is a personal preferance thing, but i felt i should pass the info along to you all.

alright... the word on the street... or the jet:

the MBRP is a loud exhaust, even on the SPI. it is louder then the other name brand exhuasts made.

i have not yet decided if this is a problem or not. If you are planning on eventually upgrading the rest of your exhuast system and you do not want an overpowering exhaust sound, then i guess MBRP is not the way to go. if you dont mind a loud exhuast then MBRP looks like a good deal. it all depends on personal preferance.

i have a syereo in place already, so volumn is not bad. but i do not want trouble with the law. i also plan to get a shorty header to go with my new tb and intake when i get them. i do not want to be one of those obnoxious guys on the road, cuz i hate the canny mufflers. o well, so borla seems to be pretty popular right.

crazy_urn
07-16-2004, 07:06 PM
borla is very popular. magnaflow (sp?) is very popular. and a couple others i cant remember off the top of my head.

as for the canny "ricer" sound, i dont think you will have that problem with the MBRP. i think it has a deep sound. but some people dont like it so loud.
