i have a 03 svt and ive done pretty much every bolt on possible
and i hwant to build the motor and bore and stroke it new pistons ect.. maybe turbo or something

anyway my car is my daily driver so i cant tear te engine out of it and built it real easily cuz then i wwont be able to get to work and stuff

SVT motors are like 1,800$ and i dont wana spend that much
u can get a zetec or duratec for around 600$
would it relly make a difference if i was goin to do all that to the motor anyway way wether it was a svt or not?
will my trans mount to a zetec or dura. ?

would i be able to get the same amount of power out of another motor as i would a SVT

thanks

o 2.3L would probably yield the most gains

im almost positive the getrag bolts right up to the zetec, if it doesn't bolt right up I know it is possible. A lot of people have been going 2.0 duratec block with a 2.3 head for increased flow (as suggested by Tom I think)

The getrag will bolt up to the zetec, but its not just a simple plop and swap. You need new axles, cv's, etc. as for the power, just throw a turbo on it. your internals are already miildly built. You can reliably do 300 whp/wtq. turbo it. if eventually, you have a need for more power, well, then build it up and crank the boost. If you blow it, you can build a zetec motor and turbo it again. I say, just put 15 psi through the motor and see where ur at!! If you wanna go all out, stroke it, turbo it, and smoke a lambo!! lol (from a roll of course, cause you'll never get one from a dig!!)

see ive been told that if you just turbo a svt that the engine wonthandle it
and also that you have to do alot more than just bolt on the turbo kit

but see ive never turbo'd or supercharged anything ive built N/A motors idk much about turboing though

The stock SVT engine can handle up to around 17psi with a good tune and proper fuel. You could run 15psi just to be safe. With the rite turbo and tune you could push 300+ whp easily.

zetec and svt blocks are the same with the exception that the svt has oil squerters, they can be bolted up to either trans. as said above, SVT motor will handle mild boost on stock internals. (svt has forged rods)

ok so can anyone tell me what the different "trims" on a turbo mean?
how do i know how much boost a turbo can make
and whats a good turbocharger for my car?

t3/t4 is probably the most commonly used turbo for any car really, am i right? umm the trim is how wide the fan is, the bigger the fan the more power you get out of smaller boost at higher RPM, do you plan on doing any legal racing? if so what kind, that will help you decide which kind of turbo to go with and how to fine tune your car
