is the tire weight difference between a 205 width and 215 width tire (all else remaining equal) that much or very little?
i asked for 215/60/16 or 215/50/16 and the guy said that tire is too tall for the focus (00-04) and it will throw off my abs, traction, and speedo.

^^^ Who are you taking it to get your tires done?
Most of the tire weights are found at the tirerack website, just for reference purposes.

yes those 2 sizes are both too tall, the proper upsize from stock would be 215/45/16.
and its not the weight that will throw off the speedo, abs and tc. its the larger rolling diameter of the tire that screws things up.

oh crap......falken's don't have 215/45/16s except in the RTs but i dont want those tires cuz they are summer. Can u recommend a good tire for 215/45/16s?
If not, i'm stuck with the falken ze912 205/50/16s

thats a good tire, are you using stock rims? if so you would be much better off with a 205 because a 215 is a bit too wide for the stock rim but will work

yeah good reviews on that tire. I'm going to use (or planning to use) rota slipstream 16x7 wheels. Is too 215 a bit too wide still?

ya, ur weight won't make a difference, i wouold just stick w/ the 205/50/16's. there are more tires available for that size. the 10 mm size difference won't make a huge difference.
