Just curious if they are worth the $.
Here they are:
SPLIT-PORT POWER CONTROLLER
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SHIFT IMPROVER
DUAL-GAP SPARK PLUGS
Here is where I found them:
Thanks for your advice

As for the shifting. Save for a chip. Its just around the corner anyways. The other two. Not sure about.

Think about it though, the chip you might need higher octane fuel but maybe not with the shift improver....GAS PRICES, MAN! GAS PRICES!

Thanks for the input. I read somewhere on the site that all work with aftermarket chip. Now how they know that is something of a mystery.
BTW, how close is around the corner for the SPI chip being available?

i have seen those listed b4 also. no one knows about them? waterboy? code415?
07-14-2004, 09:13 PM
about the chip...
it is currently being tested.
the only thing i have heard about release date is "patience grasshoper" lol
i believe the first item (the split port power controler) is a rip off. sounds to me like the SWAB mod. i wouldnt spend $80 for something i can do basically free.
the other two items seem a little fishy as well.
but hey, if you get that, i have some very important blinker fluid i could sell you.
and if you buy that, i also have some ocean front property in Arizona.
07-14-2004, 09:27 PM
ha ha ha, i will pass on the blinker fluid, mine is important and imported. but is that property still available? ha ha ha. speak more of this swab mod. good? popular? what is it?

check out this thread:
clicky clicky (http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=16251&highlight=SWAB)
also, i believe Jim (waterboy) is putting together a new how-to with pics.
p.s. sorry the property sold real fast, sorry bud.

07-14-2004, 09:47 PM
sorry i missed the link, i hit the submit button to early. but it is ready to go now.
by the way...
i am almost insulted you didnt mention me when you asked who could answer the question. [bigcry]
i know i am not on the same level as them.
i love you Jim and Gabe!

1000 apoligies. you have been more help than n e 1 for me at least. it seems when ever i am on you are also, and your info seems sound. i apealed to them because no one responded to the post and i was curious also. and the two "spi gods" as i like to think of them, seem to have a very firm finger on all that is pulsing in the world of the spi. long apology, and i know you were joking, soo thank you and i am out.
07-14-2004, 10:01 PM
have you done the mod? does it effect gas milage?
07-14-2004, 10:13 PM
no need to apoligize. just gatta give you some crap... lol
i have not done the SWAB mod yet. i am waiting for the new how-to with pics. and waiting untill i actually have a day off where i do not have a hundred things planned.
i be doing the mod soon, but time is in very short supply right now.
about gas milage. i believe that there would be a slight negative impact. i think this will be increased slightly by the fact that you will drive your car harder simply because you can. however, since i have not yet performed this mod, i do not have first hand knowledge. (Jim, Gabe, please correct me if i am wrong.

damn cali gas prices. o well a few more trips to the station wont kill me. i hope i dont get on a first name basis with the atendent though. then i know i am in trouble.
07-14-2004, 10:30 PM
i would guess it would not have a dramatic effect on your gas milage. maybe a mpg or two, but nothing severe. i also think if this is the case it can be counter acted by another mod or two.
BTW: i am already on a first name basis with the ladies at the station i fill up at, but they also happen to live across the street from me, so i dont know if that counts. lol
07-14-2004, 10:48 PM
nice, are the cuties? anyway, the other mods are? cai,tb,header, exhaust.?
07-14-2004, 11:02 PM
well, they are cuties if you consider an overweight 40 some odd year old mother of 3 and her mother cuties... lol. but they are very nice people.
there are quite a few more mods then just that. but those are the basics. and they should help improve gas milage from what i have heard. you can also add an off road pipe to the list, if you dont have to worry about emissions tests.
07-14-2004, 11:08 PM
i live in cali. the clean air people are worse than the gas gougers. is a high flow cat a good choice or needed for the spi?
07-14-2004, 11:11 PM
there currently is not a high flo cat made that is worth it.
07-14-2004, 11:23 PM
checking off list as we speak. thanks
07-14-2004, 11:38 PM
however, if you have the $ you can have one custom made, but i have no clue where. (so maybe you should put it back on the list.... lol
