i was looking around at some gauges and i don't knwo which ones i should do... oil pressure/temp... or vacuum or air/gas mixture.. will these ones that you have to put on the motor to attach these void the warranty? i know i am going to do the voltage..... any answers will help!!![loveff]

I wouldn't do oil temperature or A/F unless you have a turbo, Oil pressure can be handy to know. It will definitely let you know faster than the idiot light. Vacuum is pretty useless, but I have one just to track how open my throttle is. Warranty, I'm not too sure about that. Someone with a new Focus should know.

zx3 freak is right vacuum is pointless and a/f is just a light show go with oil pressure

alright so water temp, voltage and oil pressure? do those three sound good?

i would do the oil pressure, and i would do the a/f mixture. the reason if you ever want to do a tune down the road you'll want that gauge. light show or not, its an investment in the future plans of the car, if your going that way. dosent the car have the water temp already? if not that is a good thrid option. the voltage is kinda usless, even in the long run.

i guess it does i just didn't remember it.. i had an older for that showed EVERYTHING... so im at water temp oil pressure and the a/f does that sound good? i know its my car but im just asking since im new to modding

I think the voltage gauge is pretty worthless, if you're going to use it to determine if your battery is dead, you'll know long before your gauge dies. The only thing it'll really tell you is if your regulator in your alternator is cooked, seems kinda pointless to me.
I'm thinking about putting oil pressure and possibly A/F in my car, I don't trust the idiot light after running my engine almost dry and the light not coming on.

vacuum gauge is a great gauge if you know how to use it. 95 percent of people have no idea what the numbers mean. Thats why most think its useless. If you want to save gas that gauge will be your best friend. If you want to know how your engine is running its a great thing to be able to look at if you know how to use it. I would do 4 gauges. water temp, oil pressure and temp, and vacuum. A real A/F gauge will cost a couple hundred bucks. You will need a wideband O2 and a controller and a narrowband output for your PCM. Otherwise its just a pretty lightshow no matter how ya look at it. Even if ya go turbo the 80 dollar ones are useless for tuning.

Im not doing a turbo soon. So im still considring one. im at oil pressure water temp and a-f. I think. the a-f is the only one i dont know much about.
