WRCwannabe 03-11-2009, 09:44 PM it should have some kinda drivetrain warranty possible.
100k mile i think maybe
SVT_BMXer 03-11-2009, 09:54 PM Oh man, I'm sorry to hear about your problems. Those aren't real common problems so I donno about a good cure. Seems like if your head was re-worked and then developed another problem, it could be an issue with the head that wasn't seen the first time? Just a thought. I've been there man, my transmission went out a few years back. Had a new one installed and immediately had another issue with my clutch that needed about another $1K worth of parts and labor. Unfortunately, I voided my powertrain warranty long before so it was all out of pocket. Hope you get your car sorted out soon [thumb]
jimsvt 03-11-2009, 10:11 PM thanks guys ...this really sucks...im only 18yo making the last payments on my car...i basically work for my svtf ...its not fair tht i have to go tru so much trouble when i just bought the car...and nah, i bought the car with 98+ k and now is at 105k so i dont think theres any warranty...im already thinking of fixing the car up and trading it or selling it...and possibly thinking of moving with the other ppl...[ JDM ]
kritter 03-11-2009, 10:22 PM Sounds like the previous owner did not treat the car very well. But I hope you get your issues resolved so you can start modding and enjoying the car!
BTW I commend you on being 18 and paying for the car yourself. Me and you are in the same boat in that sense, I just turned 19 and pay for everything. Payments, gas, insurance, mods, and general upkeep. Its a good feeling being independent in that sense. [thumb]
SVT_BMXer 03-11-2009, 11:10 PM Oh yea, I think the powertrain warranty runs out at 100K so that sucks. I can't blame you, I did the same thing with my VW I had. Was actually a very nice car but the idiot previous owner did nothing in the way of maintainance so I was left with a nice looking car that ran about 6 months of the year I had it. As much as I love the car, I'll have a hard time buying another VW. Don't think all Ford's are like that although the stereotype will probably stick.
bfocused 03-11-2009, 11:56 PM Sounds like you purchased a car that had unseen problems due to poor workmanship or very poor maintenance. Your valve issue was most likly caused by the timing belt breaking.
Your head issue may have been caused by the cooling fan situation. If the fan fails or the thermo switch that turns it on/off is bad you get over heating, and a cracked cylinder head.
Man my heart goes out to you. It really sucks to have all those problems with a very reliable car. The previous owner probably beat the hell out of the poor thing. You should never buy a high millage car with out having a reputable mechanic taking a very long and hard look at the car. I have spent my whole life in the car business and worked at a Ford dealer (now retired) One thing I noted over and over, cars fail due to lack of simple care of the car. Add the "boy-racer" syndrome to the mix and it's the same old story, beat your car, and pay the price.
I wish you good luck.

Sorry to hear about your issues. well ... if you get rid of it ... nice to see you attempted to hang with it.

Oh and out of curiosity ... if you were to keep it ... what's the cost of you getting all this work done to fix it vs buying a whole new engine / Rebuilt engine ? ? ? Thought about it?

jimsvt 03-12-2009, 06:28 AM this is the thing, i quoted tht i was 18yo and stuff... fortunately my mechanic fixes my car then gives me sometime to pay him back, so the whole new engine or rebuilt engine is outta the question since im already paying the car myself. dont got tht kind of cash at the moment. but im not really sure how much it is , im thinkking its gotta be over $2,000... wat are ppls inputs on tht???
OrangeSVTguy 03-12-2009, 09:51 AM You can find used engines/tranny for way under $2000 and that typically includes everything.
Here's a complete SVT for $2250 (http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/redirector.php?url=http%3A%2F%2Fcgi.ebay.com%2Febaymotors%2FFord-Focus-SVT-02-Focus-SVT-Black-Does-Not-Run_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ31835QQihZ007QQitemZ170309623162QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW)! LOL but it just doesn't run [:p] and I'm sure the head is fine.
You could make WAY more parting it out and keeping what you need.
