Right where to start.....

My brother has 1.6 Ford Focus Zetec, and has managed to blow a hole in the engine block.

To cut a long story short me and my dad are going to replace the engine like for like. However I'm a little stuck:

The engine code is a Ford Focus Zetec SE with an engine code: FYDB.

I can't find a replacement engine anywhere with this code, only engines with engine codes of FYDA.

My question to you all is what is the differences between the engine and engine codes and are they transferable??
