I have a friend said WRC impreza use the same supension as the STi. is it true? if so is the supension of the STi the same as regular impreza?

I also want to know if impreza 2.0L's supension is good or not.
and are they all use the same AWD system?

thanks.
Steven

im pretty sure that everything is better on the WRC car... i mean you couldnt build one for $35k could you ?

well you never know...
if you have a STi it shouldn't be too bad...
because the AWD system is the same
so all you need is the roll cage, suspension and turbo intake header... and so on...
maybe you can...

i dono i just really like the subbi hatch.

The impreza does have AWD, but its not the same as the STi, The STi has 3 limited slip diffs, one front, one rear, one at the center. Also it runs a better transmission 6spd, instead of 5. The STi aso has dccd, (drivers center controlled differential) which allows you to control how the torque is split between the front and rear diffs, as well as locking the diffs, for Rally type applications.

The STI has a computerized center diff that you can put into different settings:
http://www.driveperformance.subaru.com/version1_2/blueprint.asp

The WRC car uses a more advanced and much more rugged unit that doesn't get featured in Subaru production.

WRXs and base Imprezas get a normal viscous LSD center diff.

the one i am planning to get is the 2.0L Sportline
it is a 150 hp with a 5spd Dual-Range Manual Tranny
with Centre Differential with Viscous LSD and subaru dynamic control
which i think is enough and better than most of the AWD car out there
i think regular impreza and WRX are the same

just STi is different as below.
now they all have centre differential with viscous LSD but impreza is computerized and STi you can actually change it by the driver.

6 Speed Manual Transmission
Multi-Mode Driver's Control Centre Differential (which i think the the article talks about)
Multi-Mode Subaru Vehicle Dynamics Control (which i think the the article talks about)
S-I Drive
Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive

I'm still not sure what you mean when you ask is the suspension good or not. Will it be reliable and hold up? Yes of course.

Will it handle to your liking? Possibly. You'd have to test drive it to really know.

subbi sounds promising for me so far.
the dual-range is going to be great coz i will be driving on mountains

we have plans to drive up a snowy mountain to ski hotels.
2.0L i think i can get turbo along the line for more power!!

it is very difficult to turbocharge a naturally aspirated Subaru boxer motor that was never designed for boost. It is cheaper to buy a turbo motor and swap it in wholesale, partly because of the great parts interchangeability in Subarus.

really i dono about it...
why it is hard to get boost? because the motor aint taking the pressure or what?

well i dono maybe just leave it as is then....
because STi do have a lot more features, i don want 5spd with turbo 2.5L

the head design is different from turbo motors and the compression starts out high. By the time you have enough OEM parts to do a proper turbo setup, you might as well just get the shortblock as well. And with that you pretty much have a whole replacement motor.

interesting...
well then no turbo for me then.
just a good old N/A subbi with great numbers will be great for me...
just want a great 4 door family DD...

so regular subbi is great right?

2.0L i think i can get turbo along the line for more power!!

Why not save a few extra coin and get a base WRX? More power, more potential for power and probably a slightly more refined ride.

well... in Austria there is no base WRX
either 2.0L or a 2.5L STi
and STi is about 53000 EURO after tax... which is 66,830.34 U.S. Dollars!!!!!!!!!!

I don think I can just get a car like that...
which I really want to... because of the spec. is very attractive.
and looking forward to the
6 Speed Manual Transmission
Multi-Mode Driver's Control Centre Differential (which i think the the article talks about)
Multi-Mode Subaru Vehicle Dynamics Control (which i think the the article talks about)
S-I Drive

But I will be done with my college and I have to move to Austria, because of my wife.
So unless I found a really well paid job... I cannot effort that car...
plus insurance is going to be a lot...

i know i would love to have a STi

but Focus RS MkI will be still my love...
check this video out which I came across when I am looking for MkI RS
Clicky (http://www.myvideo.de/watch/670777/Tracktest_Focus_RS)

I will talk to my wife see if we can do something to save 1 of MkI RS from wrecking...
I love that color, the seat, the turbo and just because of it is MkI
there are 3 - 4 of them on sell in Europe about 13k Euro, about 17k USD
only about 45k miles on it...
i would die for 1...
i know anyone here would as well!!
come on 4500 produced...

Well I think you found your answer. A subbie is cool, but an RS is just so much better.

subaru is AWD all the time.
just go with the 2.5 ej25 or something like that.

it has more potential. and you can run lower boost a produce the same as 2.0 on higher boost.

make your engine last longer.
its jsut subies are kinda expsensive to maintain

RS is much better, the Mk1 or Mk2?
the only thing i want to know is how a subbi AWD work and handle...
that is going to be a good problem.

my wife like a four door and both Mk1 and 2 does not offer that option.
in a sense of power, no brainer, Mk1 and Mk2 wins and Mk2 will be the champ
but style... I like Mk1 the best out of three.
yes Mk2 is aggressive and looks really really good..
but just something about Mk1's smooth and curvy gets my heart.
something I cannot explain...

i am not saying subbi looks bad...
but after you got a focus Mk1, it is hard for you to fall in love with other hatch!

Sad thing, Austria is not offering 2.5 Base WRX.
either 1.5 or 2.0 or STi...
which you will not go for a 1.5 105 hp subbi, it is just wrong.
boost, bottom line i don care. a practical DD with room I need for family
and AWD for snowy winter and mountain is the reason i cannot let go the subbi.

Now that I found so many Mk1 RS in german and 4-5 of them in Austria...
Mk1 RS is getting my heart from the 2.0L subbi... [cheers][ffrocks]
