: IF I Sell My SVTF, Is My SCT2 Worth Anything?

Lately I've been itching for a new ride and have been considering the Cobalt SS. No real plans as of yet though.

What I want to know is if I put my car back to stock, can anyone else use my SCT2 w/ Hypnotic's Tune, or should I just let it go with the car?

I would assume it could be reprogrammed for someone else's car, maybe by Tom?

TIA

Make sure you put the stock tune back onto the car first as the tuner is useless as it's still "locked" to your vehicle. You could always keep it and get a tune for your SS once you get it and use your tuner to flash it.

Please don't buy the SS...IMHO there are a ton of better cars out there...

We do not currently support the cobalt SS.

So the tuner itself is not compatible? That's what I was referring to. He couldn't get a tune from someone else and use his Predator to flash his next car, even if it's a C-SS or such?

He doesn't have a predator, he has an X2 which is an SCT product. SCT does not support the SS.

Predator, I don't know...I don't work there.

Well then ... with the fact.

I recommend he return the car to stock and sell the tuner to someone who is looking for one. I know there are plenty.

Good luck with your new car, HamrHead.

Thanks Guys - That's what I needed to know. I fully intend to put the stock tune back in the car - IF I trade it.

As I'm sure many, if not all of you would agree, I would love to trade it for a new RS, but Ford won't give us that. The other problem is I won't buy foreign until the time comes that I have no choice - So it's Ford, GM, or Chrysler for me, which really limits my choices on something comparable to my SVTF.

I drove the SRT Caliber. Speedy? Yep. But otherwise I just don't like the car. What's left? A new 'regular' Focus (boring), the Cobalt SS, or just keep what I have. I still enjoy my SVT and haven't made any plans to unload it just yet, I was just curious about the SCT2 - just in case I make a quick decision.

Thanks again.[cheers]

So how far off do you think the MazdaSpeed3 is from the Focus. Many people on here have a Duratec motor. Ford owns 13% of Mazda.

And is as close to your SVT as your going to get.
Unless you want Sonic Blue[bash][?|]

Why not? 260hp, 260tq, 4 piston Brembo's, LSD(?), SVT-like handling and all for $20K. Sounds great to me, one of the best bang for buck cars out there.

And what about trying out the Volvo C30 ... I mean it is a Volvo Covered Euro Ford ST.

Yeah I realize, but just can't bring myself to do it. [dunno]

IMHO, after 1.2million+ miles and 20+ years of experience, people who drive Volvo's do so because they need the extra margin of safety that the car offers for when they inevitably do something extremely stupid. Again, JMHO.[;)]

Plus, I don't like 'em.[dunno]

If my car was a few years younger, I'd just do what you did and supercharge the SOB! Or maybe if it were ME that was a few years younger?[dunno]

These days I want a warranty.

Done Deal - I signed the papers on a new '09 Cobalt SS Thursday night. I pick it up Monday and trade my SVTF in.

I did put the stock tune back in the Focus, so the Xcal2 is unlocked - Correct?

It will be for sale shortly, along with a set of 16" 5 spoke wheels w/ Bridgestone Blizzaks from Tire Rack, and a Short Ram Intake from Hypnotic.
