So after putting of the project for weeks I finally decided to take on the project of replacing the rear drivers' side knuckle last night. Wasnt too bad, surprisingly with 65k in upstate ny only had to cut 3 seized bolts with a sawzall. So then I got the trailing arm and knuckle off the car and spindle with "ease" lol yea right.
Now heres the fun part!! I tried using a press I had at home and couldnt get the stock bushings out of the parts. So i improvised and used a huge chisel and a 3lb hammer. Flipped the chisel upside down so the round part sat on the bushing and pounded the top part to free it. All of a sudden I felt a weird pain in my leg. I look down and looked at my jeans to find a puddle of blood. A chip off the end of the chisel flew off, tore through my jeans, boxers, and embedded itself 1inch into my muscle in my upper thigh. So today I went to the ER because I realized I hadnt had a tetanus shot in 7 years and also got an xray. Neat looking xray :) The physicians assiciant offered to numb my leg and exact words "try and fish it out" HELLL NO! She said my body would push it out eventually if it didnt get infected. Said if it became infected then I would have to see a plastic surgeon. However i was happy to hear that the piece of metal in my leg is very tiny...1 maybe even 2 mm. prescribed me a medication and then i left. No pain when I walk or move, only when I touch the area above it. I think its more mental tho...kinda weird knowing there metal in my leg. Oh and I hate the hospital...havent been there since I was 9 or 10 with a concussion and 19 y/o now.
So all in all...worst car modding experience i've ever come in contact with. However it did teach me to buy a pair of carhart pants :)
here are some pics of the project. Wish i took one of the xray
