Awhile back I posted about a noise from my clutch on cold startup. I have taken it in once yet it was not cold enough and it did not make a noise. The weather is finally cold enough, it is supposed to be -18 Celcius or so tonight. This is about -0.4 F. I left a note asking the tech what to listen for this time, not like I did not do that before. They are checking it tomorrow am and hopefully they here it this time. Will post if they find something.

Here is what they found. Apperently this is common on all 08 Focus's. They heard the noise first thing, and they even started a new one on the lot to compare noises, and they are the same. They talked to Ford, and Ford knows of this. It only occurs when it is cold and dose not last long, for me it is about 5-10 min until the car warms up. It is not considered a problem by Ford, so there is no recall or even TSB's to this point. As long as there is no problems shifting, it is all good to go. Hope this sets some of your minds at ease. At least now I have paper acknowledging that they know of the problem, I should say noise, not really a problem.

Should state that it is apperently a bearing noise from the clutch, in this case the release, seems to make a noise when cold and in neutral and when clutch depressed the noise goes away.

It's just probably how it is
My 09 makes about 2-3 noises when cold (not your type of cold like 20F or so) but it doesn't do it when it's warmed up. and my car is auto
