i have 5 blue 3mmleds set up in mine, the green film was thin enough that the blue shined through the green just fine... but ive tested it on other HVAC faces and it doesnt work... the dremel can help you a lot, just dont go to deep, i wrecked my first one because i sanded through...

^What he said, another thing I did, was solder a stock bulb by where the red is on the dial so that the red will still shine thru.

3mm led brighter then a 74 bulb?

yeah leds will help a lot more, if i did it again i would probably use 5mm leds instead of 3mm... take a file and file the top down a bit for a wider light throw... i used a test light and soldered right to where the bulbs twist in for my power...

well my dad had some hobbies going on and had 14 blue 74's (don't know y) so I'm gonna put those in without taking the film off if it not bright enough ill file it off, if it still not bright enough ill go to leds but i know nothing about soldering so i would have no clue how or what to do [xx(]
