has it always been the same volume since you purchased the car? or did it just recently become noisey?

SPI = naturally noisy valvetrain

No real way to get around it.

Take off your valve cover and turn the car on and you will see why. 8 rockers underneath there going clackity clackity clack.

crazy_urn, it used to "purr" when i bought it. just about a week ago, i noticed it was a bit louder than before. it just irritates me...

i am not an expert,
but i dont think there is anything wrong with your engine.

you can take it to a mechanic to ease your mind, but unless you have other symptoms, i say turn up your radio. :D

if you need anything else just ask.

maybe it's the rubber motor bands that are worn out. I agree with "crazy_urn", take it to a mechanic and get it checked.

Run a synthetic motor oil in it. That tends to help quiet things down. I switched to a synthetic oil and it does seem to help with noise and gas mileage.
