Darkstar Motorsports is currently gauging interest in custom interior plaques with your SVT build number on it. They will look something like this:

http://i327.photobucket.com/albums/k448/rotaryhead17/svt1.jpg

Specifications on the badge itself:

3" x 1" 1100 Alloy Aluminum with Brushed/Satin Finish with a hard anodized clear coat.
3M VHB (Very high bond) mounting tape
Strength: 25 lb/in of 90 degree peel adhesion strength (440 N/100mm)

Anodized / Clear Coat Specs:

Mil-P-514
Mil-P-15024D Type H & G
Federal Spec GG-P-455B

Description:

Chemically anodized black and blue dyes followed by a mil spec anodized clear top coat. The result is an image that is chemical resistant, and highly durable for outdoor applications in direct sunlight and in salt water conditions. The plate of metal itself would have to be destroyed to affect the image due to the state of the art manufacturing. Traditional silk screen or printed badges has color that can scratch off with your fingernail, and the colors fade in UV light... These military spec bad boys do not have a raised ink surface and will last a lifetime.

Each badge has been anodized and CNC cut from a sheet of 0.050" aluminum alloy sheet which is very robust. In addition, each badge is backed with 3M 4949 VHB Black foam tape. This is a premium mounting acrylic/rubber-like pad that will allow your badge to mount to your exterior paint, or textured surface plastics. Designed as an exterior fastener to replace rivets, spot welds, and liquid adhesives, 3M VHB is made of a viscoelastic acrylic foam that is energy absorbing with outstanding durability. (UL746C)

The acrylic adhesive is 100% resistant to full submersion in water, salt water, hydraulic fluid, 10w30 motor oil, and glycol antifreeze. 90% resistant to kerosene, 50% resistant to jet fuel, 35% resistant to gasoline, and 5% resistant to MEK (Methyl Ethyl Ketone).

If applied at room temperature, 50% of ultimate bond strength will be achieved after 20 minutes, 90% after 24 hours and 100% after 72 hours. The higher the temperatures, the faster the curing time.

I think it would be THE perfect touch to the interior, would really add something to it without being gaudy.

Yes it would, but you could have both, this on the inside, and the decal on the outside.

Okay, so i want to dig this thread up from the dea, and get things rolling with these, since now I have a SVT of my own.

I'm thinking about getting really creative with these badges. Instead of just having a build number out of the total number of cars that year.

The price of these will be $25 shipped ANYWHERE, and I would need atleast 10 people interested to make them (well actaully 9 cause I want one)

I want it to have it say;

(02, 03, or 04) (ZX3 or ZX5) (build #) or (total number of that year)

Ex;

03 ZX3 #3458 of 6,158

And here's the image I would use;

I'm interested as Id like to have a plaque on the inside of the car passenger side of dash.

Would the red the SVT is printed in closely match the red inserted SVT seats?

No, it won't the inserts are more of a darker red

Also intersted, but agree with big red. I'd like it to be more plaque like, for the dash.

Also, I would prefer the total build # per year, like 1278 of 1978.

The badge itself is a nice size; 1"x 3"

And yes, it will be the total number per year. Everyone's total will not be the same unless you have the same year as someone else.

Actually what I have seen that works best in the past, is ask for a 50%($12.50) deposit since these are custom made for each member. It takes about 1-2 weeks for them to get made after I have ALL deposits in. Then once they are ready, I'll post a pic of the completed badges, and send a invoice to all those who paid the (50%) and just ship them out from there.

Since we have more than 10 people wantsing to do this. I'll start collecting deposits ($12.50) now. I'll give everyone a week (till 9/25) to get their deposit in, then that Firday I'll place the order for these to be made.

Sounds about right for a group buy. A few fall out. When I was in the harnass bar group buy we had to get 30 people. Trust me, it took a while and even then some bailed.

Something had to happen. His seller ratings on this site look good. Allot of positive feedback. And he hasn't been on FJ in just as long. Again, just looks like allot of work for a $100, gathering a group buy together and all. Jail, rehab, or medical would be my guess. Hopefully he'll be back soon.

Probably not; there is a time limit to file PayPal claims. I think it's 45 days; maybe even 30 days. Worth a shot, though...

Shame that he scammed you all, he flooded several other sites i'm on with inferior quality parts, and extremely long manufacturing times.
