: Pulling Power???

I Drive a 2001 zx3, and I will be moving soon from michigan to texas, and was wondering if i could pull a 6 foot by 12 foot trailer fully loaded? if so, would my car being lowered mess with it at all? and if not, wha size could i pull?

a 6x12' trailer behind a focus will surely kill it. that size trailer would be a lot wider than your car. my 6x12 is really 8' tire to tire, and trying to stop it.... thats a whole different story. save the focus, rent a u-haul truck and a car trailer, load up the truck, your car, throw it on the trailer, and go.

I cant afford a truck and car carrier, the only option really is a trailer, what if i go with the 5 by 8 one?

honestly, the focus isn't a great vehicle to be pulling any kind of weight behind it. I mean you could if you really wanted to but it will be dangerous when trying to stop or take turns and switch lanes. I think you should avoid using the focus as a towing vehicle as it will really put alot of stress and streign on the motor, tranny and drive components.

I don't know your situation, and it's really not my business. I'll just say if you can hold off for awhile and save some money, do it. Do the move the right way, the safe way.

do u have an auto?? if so, ur tranny won't like you. if you have a manual, then u can kiss ur clutch byebye if its stock. you may be able to tow something small if you have a good clutch, but you really don't want to tow. w/ all the toungue wait in the rear, then you will take teh weight off the front, thus no maneuvering. ur breaking will be horrid, ur rear suspension will be shot, and GL going up any type of hills. unless ur trailer is less than 200 lbs loaded, you should never tow w/ a fofo.

Yeah dont tow a trailer that big with the focus, your asking to get into a accident, the brakes wont take it, you tranny probably wont either, and your engine will be loaded to like 90% of its capacity at all times, not to mention you will beat the crap out of your car... it costs like 100 bucks to have a pallet worth of stuff shipped, I would go that route.

well its either that or have my girl pull one with her 99 saturn, which is smaller than my car. what if i baby it, and only go like 60? I moved 3 years ago from oklahoma to michigan, and packed my hatch full to the roof, including a tv and bar fridge, along with my weight set, and my car made that just fine, i just had a little hard time getting up to speed, but there was no long term damages to the focus.

haha if you end up doing it please get us some pictures, that would be epic... haha especially goin down the highway... I've seen some pretty stupid people hook their civics to pretty big trailers... feeling ballsy?

TMO man. if uncle sam is haveing you move he should do it for you. especially if you are PCSing. it may get there a week after you do but you wont have to kill your car to get it there. and where you goin. im at Dyess.

Twowwwerf: not helping at all
I feel for you dude. I know what it's like to be broke and have to move. Maybe on the 5x8 you might be all right as long as you don't load it down too badly. How much stuff are you moving anyways? It might be easier to greyhound some of it down beforehand to save you some trouble. Just trying to help you out.
