they say it is to make them more noticeable to other drivers that's why it is ok for them to have neon lights on them as well... sounds like a load of crap but what ever

Be careful... You just may offend a Harley rider (who also rides sport bikes)... Like me! No loud pipes for me. Besides how can someone hear you coming when you're riding down the road and the sound is BEHIND you? Never understood that one... As the old says goes.. "Loud pipes, small dick".

But, I would rather hear a loud exhaust, car or harley, then the thumper bass and loud crappy ass music some of these wannbe rapper "rebels without a clue" play.

But seriously, cops usually write citations for this for sport compacts compacts because it is very distinct to hear and usually not a pleasant sound as opposed to a V8.

my buddy got pulled over yesterday...statey gave him a ticket for "altered exhaust" he couldnt give him a ticket for loud because he didnt have a db reader on him to actually measure it...he said he also could have given him a ticket for altered headlights (aftermarket projector) and altered taillights (night shaded)....my next car is gunna be all motor, im getting sick of dealing with this

you should go to court and tell the judge you know the exhaust was redicuously loud and ask for a "fix it ticket" since you were on the way to get a muffler put on when you got the ticket. Then show them the reciept for the muffler and pictures of the exhaust with the new muffler with a time stamp.

BTW dont knock motorcycle exhaust, I ride a motorcycle and while I don't have a exhaust for it, most bikers dont get exhausts to tell drivers down the road they are there, the purpose of the exhaust is to stand out and be custom, just like any mod you do to your car. No one buys a motorcycle because is it a safe vehical. The reason you get pulled over in a focus rather than on a Harley is because the average cop thinks they are pulling over a "kid" with a focus. Same reason if your going 80 in a 65mph zone with a modded focus and a pickup truck or a cadillac is right beside you, you have a 90% chance of the one getting nailed.

how the hell would a loud exhaust mess with emission controls i had just a cat on my truck (rock crawling and had no money to fix it) and it passed with no problems at all if any thing he said he was shocked it was the cleanest car he had that hole day. but the cat in my truck quiets it a lot W/just a muffler (no cat) it is much louder. and i thought all emission that weren't burnt by your motor the cat took care of.

but what do i know

another thing my cop body said 8 time out of 10 they use things like that to just pull you over and most the other times it is just so they have an excuse so it cant be considered profiling. but i live in southern CA go figure

I got pulled over too a couple of weeks ago, but I only got a fix it ticket.

i asked the cop if it was a fix-it ticket, but he said no.
i am going try to see if the judge will remove the ticket once the focus is quiet

I have literally had the crap scared out of me one time by a chopper who gunned it after he took a left hand turn at a light. I didn't hear it because of my music and was looking down. My window was down slightly and BAM, I think I jumped sitting down. If he saw me, he probably would have been laughing his ass off. I'm sure they get tickets too, but it's amazing how many people I know who have received tickets for loud exhausts on their car and I have never had any friends get tickets for their motorcycles exhaust.

that's really strange, i had a neon that was pretty damn loud(cai, 2.5" exhaust with a 12" glasspack), i would get followed a lot because that was when the street racing thing was big and i was 18 or 19 with a mohawk so they couldnt wait to pull me over and search me, but i never got tickets for anything like modified parts, short of neon lights(yeah, ha, a neon with neons, that's redundant lol) and going around potholes and sewer covers after i lowered it cause the cop though i was drunk lol.

had a few follow me and stop and ask to see what i had done because they we're honestly interested and though the car was nice and sounded decent. guess it's just that much of a difference of area, lol, about 90 minutes from here is a town called waterloo, where all the kids mod aveo's>.> seeing 4 aveo's parked crooked with big ass wings and body kits was a bit entertaining
