: Honda S2000 killed off
jgustafson 01-26-2009, 02:03 PM http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/26/officially-official-honda-s2000-to-be-terminated-at-the-end-of/
Now Honda has NOTHING even remotely fun, maybe the Si. I really liked that car too, def. needed more balls for the price though.
zx32nr 01-26-2009, 02:11 PM yeah it was like the prelude they just killed the only car that looked nice.
loudfocus01 01-26-2009, 02:14 PM That sucks. I saw a yellow modded one the other day that was really clean looking.
It had a cf hood and cf trunk. Those things sit really close to the ground as well.
bigjordan 01-26-2009, 02:19 PM there are plenty of used ones out there.
mlbbaseball 01-26-2009, 02:20 PM just shows you that even honda is suffering!
SVT_BMXer 01-26-2009, 02:24 PM Just read this and was about to post. Sad day [mecry]

faster_than_u 01-26-2009, 02:31 PM its still a honduh so big deal
mtadd162 01-26-2009, 03:55 PM ^^ i would love to own a s2000...
edit: this server can suck it
Foxtrot685 01-26-2009, 10:17 PM honda is going to replace it with some new 2 seat convertible, however i cant remember the name of the concept car they showed and which auto show they showed it at... it was a little while ago. i remember honda said that it wont be as racy as the s2000, it will go for more comfort for a "broader appeal"
remember, subaru tried that crap with the new WRX with its soft suspension... not even 8 months later they said "oops, everyone hates it." if its a niche car it dosent have to conform!
londonandlawson 01-26-2009, 10:20 PM You people knocking Hondas are nuts, they are much better vehicles than your typical Focus
bobkat3999 01-26-2009, 10:34 PM ^^^^ then why are you in a ford focus forum? [duh] [8][8]
well anyway, arent they probably getting ready for the s3000? i thought i saw it in a c/d mag a month or two ago....
so maybe they get all the hype from taking the s2000 away then when the s3000 comes out people will be all over it.
jgustafson 01-26-2009, 10:45 PM There werw plans for an S3000, with a 3.5 liter V6, but those are off again on again rumors. I believe a smarter business move would be to actually lighten and downsize the S2000 to be cheaper and compete squarely with the Miata and Solstice.
The problem with the S2000 lied in the fact that it had no place in the car world except its own, it was both faster than budget convertibles but slower than everything in its price range. This niche was great for Honda fanboys to drool over and shout on the internet of its superiority but it had a harder time reaching across the marketplace to say Mustang owners or BMW owners, too expensive for most Honda fans to buy, and too slow for most import enthusiasts (an STI or Evo could be had for the same price). This tied with Hondas stubborn attitude to give it more power led to its demise. Great fun to drive, but not necessarily to pay for.
Foxtrot685 01-26-2009, 10:46 PM i just dont like how you have to rev them so high and theres no torque. so around town, its just like a regular 4-cylinder car. i live in a city downtown so during peak hours i need some thrust to dart in traffic and i sure dont have time to wait until 6000rpm for it. the fedex truck would be riding in the trunk if that were the case
stoopidsteve87 01-26-2009, 10:46 PM this had been brought up a year or 2 back about doing away with it and they ended up deciding to keep it a little longer. not really new news. still sucks though, i like the little things.
Foxtrot685 01-26-2009, 10:52 PM i hope for the next gen civic si they consider putting the 2.3L 240hp turbo engine from the RDX in it, now that could be fun!
SPIman2.0 01-27-2009, 12:39 AM I think they're coming out with that new CRX replacement thingy. That's just what I've heard. It's suposed to be like, there next big hatchback sport thingy but with rwd and a v6.....
Sounds kinda sketchy coming from Honda..... doesn't sound like their style.....
LouOrangeSVT 01-27-2009, 06:47 AM that sucks.. i have always loved S2Ks...

yea that is obv the downside to the whole vtec thing...but once you do hit it, it will throw you back and i mean cmon RWD...and i do love the looks of it

as far as driving in the city, this probably wouldnt be the type of car i would drive in the city anyway, owning a standard in the city i would think must suck, and its sports car its not made for going and stopping and going over sh!tty roads
londonandlawson 01-27-2009, 09:49 AM I have a Focus and I need technical help
kenzx3 01-27-2009, 09:51 AM Damn, I loved the S2K's, one of my favorite cars.
NemesisEnforcer 01-27-2009, 09:55 AM so what is johnny tran gonna drive in the upcoming Fast and the Furious?
mtadd162 01-27-2009, 09:40 PM ^^ummm duh that tricked out jetta he won, cuz that foo n2o'ed too soon
I have a Focus and I need technical help
i dont get it, is this a joke, or are you lost?
turr520 01-27-2009, 09:55 PM Autoweek in their latest issue says that the Honda Insight is actually a fun car to drive...for a hybrid. :)
NemesisEnforcer 01-27-2009, 10:03 PM far as i can tell, mag opinions are available to the highest bidder though.
dudeitswillis 01-27-2009, 10:18 PM a little off topic..did anyone see the new honda insight? it look like a prius!!!! haha. no dis on the prius when it comes to fuel milage.
speaking of the prius...anyone seens a fully tricked prius?? thatd be sick.

there are plenty of 350z's and RX8's that live in or near my building downtown and they do just fine in stop and go traffic and shitty roads arent just limited to downtown areas, lol. and because ive been driving a stick sooooooo long, i dont even notice it in traffic, its second nature
FiFoci 01-27-2009, 10:41 PM s2ks are pretty sick little cars.
i guy near me has one fully built with a big ass turbo and no BOV so all u hear is massive compressor surge. its the best sounding car EVER. lucky for him the turbo hasnt blown up yet.
NemesisEnforcer 01-27-2009, 10:58 PM u dont need a BOV. he probly has a bypass valve, which is better. it kicks the air back into the system, to keep the shaft turning as you shift. real tuners use them instead of a bov b/c they want the power/safety over neat noises.
Onlyford4me 01-28-2009, 09:12 AM The S2000's are very nice cars. I've loved them since they came out. I always thought they were over priced by about 5 grand though at least. They ride very nice and they are faster than someone might think who looks at the tq numbers. A turbo would make that a beast.

theres is some company that makes a supercharger for them...
ive seen a few with aftermarket wheels and one with a lip kit on. bottom line... still a prius.
killer ZETEC 01-28-2009, 11:26 AM meh, not my cup of tea. but i'm not much of a honda guy. if i want something that revs really high i'd get an rx-8. they are much cooler looking and sounding anyways.
(an s2k sounds like a flying ricebomb no matter what exhaust is on it. it just cant be helped)
gstop2006 01-28-2009, 01:12 PM [QUOTE=NemesisEnforcer;2553001]so what is johnny tran gonna drive in the upcoming Fast and the Furious?[/QUOTE
x2^^^^^^^lmao[rofl]
FocusOnm3 01-28-2009, 01:32 PM Id rather take the Bmw GINA anyways...

A friend of mine has an Rx-8.. the thing is deadly fast, no redline and 60mph in 1st gear, with 6 speed tranny.

All cars have a redline, it just so happens that an RX8s is very high.
jgustafson 01-28-2009, 01:39 PM Id rather take the Bmw GINA anyways...
That was just a concept car
Hexagram 01-28-2009, 04:39 PM You people knocking Hondas are nuts, they are much better vehicles than your typical Focus
says the jacka$$ with negative rep!
wonder why you have that?!!?
j-zetec_pr 01-28-2009, 04:48 PM so does this mean the prices on used s2k's is gonna rise or drop? anyone know?
Hexagram 01-28-2009, 08:00 PM well i dont see them goin up. its not that nice of a car, its just a sporty honda to me.
Hexagram 01-28-2009, 08:06 PM The problem with the S2000 lied in the fact that it had no place in the car world except its own, it was both faster than budget convertibles but slower than everything in its price range. completely agree with that, to overpriced for what you get.
londonandlawson 01-28-2009, 08:51 PM Neg rep or not, Hondas are still overall better than most Focuses.
bigjordan 01-28-2009, 09:07 PM Neg rep or not, Hondas are still overall better than most Focuses.
not a popular opinion around here, but i have to agree. if i had a choice between an 09 civic and an 09 focus, the obvious choice would be the civic.
bigjordan 01-28-2009, 09:09 PM its just a sporty honda to me.
it is not a "sporty" honda. it is a real sports car. an example of a sporty honda would be the civic si.
londonandlawson 01-28-2009, 09:10 PM I don't have experience or know about the newer Focuses, I hear they are good. But overall you would have to be in denial to say otherwise. I don't know why people act like they are choosing sides in a war. "I have X therefor it is better than Y!!!!"
NemesisEnforcer 01-28-2009, 09:16 PM people will do that. they will always talk up what they own. same goes for mods, like one exhaust vs. another. just human nature.
the civic Si coupe is sweet. just too small for me. will rev like you would not believe though.
londonandlawson 01-28-2009, 09:23 PM I must be odd then as I can step back and look at things with common sense, it is just silly and childish to act like that. It is as bad or worse than kids on the internet being fanbois over video games.
OCS12 01-28-2009, 09:27 PM I don't have experience or know about the newer Focuses, I hear they are good. But overall you would have to be in denial to say otherwise. I don't know why people act like they are choosing sides in a war. "I have X therefor it is better than Y!!!!"
I don't have any sides. To be honest, I'm loyal to Subaru. I can't say that I'll miss the S2000 though. To me it just came across as a high-powered Miata. I've seen a bowl of oatmeal that had more style than the S2000. It was such a great engine in such an incredibly bland design.
I will not mourn it's passing.
NemesisEnforcer 01-28-2009, 09:46 PM me too, i think the Si coupe right now is sexier.
Waffles ZX3 Kona Sport 01-28-2009, 10:05 PM Damn, I loved the S2K's.
If I could fit in one, I'd of bought one instead of the Focus.
me too, i think the Si coupe right now is sexier.
meh, I don't care much for the new Si's (coupe or sedan).
FiFoci 01-28-2009, 10:25 PM i would rather have my focus vs any honda. other than the s2k.
there is a ebay single cam civic near me that walks over just about anything. its making close to 400wheel....with an ebay turbo kit...and single cam.. but i would still rather have my focus becuase i dont like hondas
FiFoci 01-28-2009, 10:26 PM the only honda i like (other than the s2k) is the one in my zero turn lawn mower just because im sure that mower will last longer than me.

It seems like the fella in the S2000 has more car than he can handle, but isn't it fun watching a Focus eat an S2000[headbang]
loudfocus01 01-28-2009, 11:23 PM Badass video man!
Hexagram 01-28-2009, 11:52 PM I Love You!
Waffles ZX3 Kona Sport 01-29-2009, 09:46 AM Awesome!
If only that damn mirror wasn't in the way...
Foxtrot685 01-29-2009, 09:52 AM ^^^ your avatar makes me want eggos all the time
seriously i think the s2000 will be missed by its following dearly. i wish i could have driven one.
Random Select 01-29-2009, 01:06 PM I guess the next big project (not a sporty car though) coming from Honda is the FCX Clarity.
With the NSX taking a back seat due to the economy, I guess we'll have to make do with the Civic Si and its Mugen edition variation.
Chick 01-31-2009, 08:30 AM not a popular opinion around here, but i have to agree. if i had a choice between an 09 civic and an 09 focus, the obvious choice would be the civic.
I'd have to agree.
It sucks that the S2000 is getting killed off. It's a sexy car.
