So as of this morning per my Ford dealership who although are ripoffs on prices, have come to the conclusion that my engine is toast and will never run again. I realy like the Ford Focus(and love you guys) so I'm wondering, should I buy another focus. The one I have is an SPI so an upgrade from that would be a big thing for me but I'm just wondering, is the SPI just crap and another engine will last longer. It only has 90K on the clock and is gone through no neglect by me(maybe first owner). I have the oil changed ATLEAST every 3K and all other maintenance. Help Focus or move on to another vehicle????

Possibly the previous owner's fault. I heard that the SPI is a very reliable engine.

The SPI is a very reliable engine. I would just replace the engine with another SPI (easiest) or upgrade to a Zetec.

did they give you a reason why "it will never run again?" Maybe a rebuild is cheaper than a new(er) car....weigh the pros and cons of each and based off of those make the best decision.

Gotta throw another nomination for a low mileage SVT. You won't be disappointed. See if insurance will total out your car and use that money to find one.

Another nom for low mileage SVT, you won't be dissapointed, if your looking to stay within the focus community that is.

Or try to find a earlier model 2.3 Duratec or a ST.

Well guys, weighing in everything and the possibility of another used car failing, I purchased a new car. But I wasn't ready to leave you guys just yet so I took delivery on A 2009 Ford Focus SE, of course I will post pics and this one has a supped up warranty 100K miles so hopefully I will never need it! Thanx guys but a SVT(stick shift) in the city isn't for me! Glad to be staying in the circle with a Focus!
