: Supercharger?
domdil 12-09-2008, 12:03 AM Im looking to go FI in the spring but I want to keep it simple. I'm not looking for massive powergains as driveability is still important because it will be my Daily driver. What is the most trouble-free, basic supercharger you can get for the SVT?
Thanks
mlbbaseball 12-09-2008, 12:12 AM prolly the JRSC, but you won't gain too much power!! but it is easy to install, maintenance free for the most part and will last the life of the car!! cheap too.
thisdude_05 12-09-2008, 12:16 AM I vote Procharger, not because I'm selling one but the ease of install and gains are alot better than just a stock JRSC. Ad you can easily go back to stock in a matter of 30-60 minutes if you choose.
domdil 12-09-2008, 12:29 AM how easy are these to install exactly? thanks for the responses.
mlbbaseball 12-09-2008, 12:40 AM JRSC all you have to do is take off the intake manifold and bolt in the blower. you have to remove the altrenator to do this. then you have to change the tensioner and put in a new serpentine. put in the new fuel injectors if you have the BBK and voila, done. it can be done in 1/2 a day. and ur set. i don't know about the procharger, this dude can tell you.
thisdude_05 12-09-2008, 12:56 AM Procharger...all you have to do is bolt up the brackets to the ac compressor, bolt up blower to the brackets, install new belt and injectors, mafia, mount intercooler run piping to TB and done.
wow is it really that simple? just plug and play? i thought you wouldve needed some dyno tuning and tweaking to ensure it doesnt blow up.
thisdude_05 12-09-2008, 02:18 AM Of course you have to get it tuned we are just talking aboutt he hardware install difficulty.
Dan-O 12-09-2008, 08:00 PM A JRSC with a BBK comes with a 'safe' tune and is ready to drive once you get your PCM back from Ford.
It could be better, and it's quite rich, but still, it is very driveable right out of the box.
I have one, it's fun!
mlbbaseball 12-09-2008, 08:37 PM basically, you can send ur PCM into FR, it is overnighted, tuned, then overnighted back to you, so you get the supercharger on monday. take out the PCM, install the supercharger, then first thing wednessday morning, ur driving a boosted car!!!

That's one thing I wish you could do for the Procharger. For tunability I give it to the JRSC.
focusguy87 12-09-2008, 09:50 PM IMO the procharger is easier, because you don't have to mess with the intake manifold and the back of the motor where there is limited space.
Also Procharger = more power up to 300whp, it is intercooler so thats more efficient, there are so many pros for this setup.
JRSC youd be around 200whp
mlbbaseball 12-09-2008, 09:55 PM the IM comes off in about 45 minutes!! really easy to move!!
thisdude_05 12-09-2008, 09:57 PM the IM comes off in about 45 minutes!! really easy to move!!
In 45 minutes you can bolt up the procharger kit lol
jman89 12-09-2008, 10:07 PM It also depends on what kind of power you are looking for the JR will likely have more low end power as it is a roots blower and the powerband down low is generally more powerful. On the other hand the PC is a centrifigal supercharger which has a much smoother powerband that is much less peaky and seems to hold power higher into the RPM range. It all depends each would make your DD more fun and give you some power that the stock focus lacks.
mlbbaseball 12-09-2008, 10:19 PM u also don't have to upgrade teh clutch w/ the jrsc.
silveib 12-10-2008, 06:51 AM I think if you are looking for drivability/ ease of install/ basic supercharger then JRSC is the way to go. Have you looked into powerworks? like the JRSC but intercooled

JRSC ease of install??? LOL the PC is way easier to install.
jman89 12-10-2008, 01:49 PM I have done the Powerworks install its the setup I have and let me tell you if your looking for something quick and easy to install it is not the way to go. I love the kit and its a great setup but it is not for the mechanically declined or those who do not have several days to put their car out of commission.
egbertnr 12-10-2008, 04:45 PM From what I have read and seen a procharger set up looks easier to install....
silveib 12-11-2008, 07:58 AM JRSC ease of install??? LOL the PC is way easier to install.
i was referring to a combination of qualities, i can definitely see the procharger being easy to install.
SquirrelZX3 12-11-2008, 09:35 AM im getting procharger for my zx3 i feel it is one of the best designed kits and when you pop the hood you cant tell that its super charged
Dads03SVT 12-13-2008, 02:40 PM I want a Procharger.............
thisdude_05 12-13-2008, 02:47 PM I want a Procharger.............
Your wish shall be granted (look at my sig [:D])
focus2ner 12-14-2008, 03:38 PM so if i run a sc i wont have to do as much build up as i would running a turbo? Not to be a thread biter but i lookin to go fi just undecided turbo or sc? the blower looks way easier to install plus it will be pretty much a daily driver for me also.
thisdude_05 12-14-2008, 03:47 PM Depends on the amount of power. A PC at 10 psi you probably would only need to beef up the transmission (mine blew after a year). A turbo at 10 psi is no difference. A turbo at 20 psi well you better start looking at stronger internals and definitly the trans.
You can make more power with a turbo than with a SC you just have to decide your budget and what your power goals are.
03OrangeSVT 12-14-2008, 03:55 PM I wouldnt WASTE my time doing a JRSC...
The ProCharger is a FAR better setup in ALL aspects... (when compaired to the JRSC)
thisdude_05 12-14-2008, 04:01 PM x2 on the Procharger
