FocusZx3Oh 10-15-2008, 05:31 PM Just happen to be going by a Nissan dealership here in Columbus. What do I see pulling off the lot but a new black on black GT-R.....[thumb] [deviltail]
Here the link to the site just in case you havent seen it.

SkyPilot 10-15-2008, 05:33 PM they are one sexy car, but i keep reading about the "black box" in the car and alot of owners are losing their warranty because they are using the car for what it is meant for.

Yes, and its $1000 to have the dealer reset the box!
FocusZx3Oh 10-15-2008, 06:13 PM Black Box??????
LongDucDong 10-15-2008, 09:33 PM They are sweet rides, arent they? I like em much better in person rather than in the mags. Ive already seen 2 on the road and a few at the dealers. This one here in St. Charles had 2. How'd they manage that?!?!

DrkKnight614 10-16-2008, 06:12 PM I've seen two in person very close up. Theres a guy with a white one in my town. It looks alot better in person then in pictures. I went to meet and the two cars were like celebrities on a red carpet. I looked for a bit then left, its an amazing car, but I don't think its the best thing since slice bread, or the god of cars. The problem i feel with the GT-R is that it seems artificial, like it was built to be the best at everything, and to practically be a car right out of a gran turismo game. Some reviews have said thats how it feels when you drive it. It's an amazing car, but there's many cars id get instead. Still was sexy as hell, especially in white.
All cars will soon have "black boxes". The feds have mandated it. I think it starts in 2012
Back on topic. The GT-R is nice, but I would buy something else.
MightyMouse 10-20-2008, 12:19 AM Black Box??????
Logs damn near everything and keeps it logged. Nissan is using it to void/deny warranties on transmission that were launched using launch control more than 3 times.
JohnMichael 10-20-2008, 09:38 AM Wow...Black Box = BS. [thumbd]

Yes, and the owners are stuck with a 10K rebuild! The car was not built to be beat on! They missed the American Market, you can take any GMC/Dodge/Ford performance car and do 100+ 1/4 mile runs no issues! The Americans and Europeans know why people buy performance cars and they engineer in the 'beat the snot out of it factor'.
Fordcus Fan 10-20-2008, 10:13 AM Its bad enough the dealers are screwing customers with the mark up, but for nissan to screw you out of your warranty like mitsubishit does just sucks. They must have little faith in the longevity of the tub when its pushed to its limits. Oh well it just gives me another reason why I will never own another nissan.

oh ya they do, ive heard some crazy storys of the big three engineers getting a hold of prototype engines for "testing" lol[hihi]

Yeah its pretty lame that they have a feature put into the car and show it on all the test drives and market performance numbers while using that feature yet you can only use it 3 times before your warranty is null and void.
Phacade 10-20-2008, 12:02 PM I'm not sure I like the black-box idea very much either.
DrkKnight614 10-20-2008, 11:30 PM So many things out and coming that kill privacy....maybe next year it'll actually be 1984[paranoid]

SpeedOften 10-21-2008, 09:52 AM The Nissan GT-R isn't the only car with a "Black box" but they do seem to be the only company being so tight assed about how their car is run...
Spider 10-21-2008, 10:23 AM Black Box sounds lame. I hate it. The car looks semi good. The engine is massive.
Wagamos 10-21-2008, 10:35 AM Now we just have to wait for someone to make something that can just rewrite the black box. If the manufacturers can reset it, maybe someone can make something to write in better values lol. That is major bs though too. Honestly if you are gonna buy the waranty on the car it shouldnt matter if you use a function that the car came with. Nissan should have made that not be a problem.
zx32nr 10-21-2008, 11:01 AM i agree. just like people re-write data in a ecu, there will be someone that will hack it so when you re-flash the black box it will say you never went over 65mph and never shifted past 3k, lol
the black box is another reason i like my 01, lol
maybe i will buy an 07 or 09 and keep it for a lifetime, lol
slowpoke03 10-26-2008, 07:15 PM let me correct myself didnt read the title Ford Focus & General Car Chat i have to remember this chat is not only for fofo's i appoliguise[smackbum]
SVT_BMXer 10-26-2008, 07:30 PM There are already being warranty claims being denied because transmissions have already begun to fail. I've read about 2 or 3 already, and since the dealership can tell if you're "abusing" the car, they have denied warranty work which isn't good when a new tranny is quoted at around $20K. I think it's BS they are being denied when Nissan promotes the car as an everyday supercar and if it can't handle the abuse of launching after only a few thousand miles and they are denying claims. lame [thumbd]
TheShocker 10-26-2008, 07:52 PM nice car but i will never sell out. i will always buy american
whynotthinkwhynot 10-26-2008, 07:54 PM nice car but i will never sell out. i will always buy american
[headbang] Buy America or it's Bye America!!!

Four have been sold in Puerto Rico. One has already failed ON THE DYNO!
BTW, they start at 135k down here. That's a regular GT-R. What a joke.
I''ll pay 100k for a Z06 before spending 35k more on that nanny assisted thing. The GT-R, the "supercar" for the not so super drivers...
Fordcus Fan 10-31-2008, 10:01 PM nice car but i will never sell out. i will always buy americanWow, I was beginning to believe I was the only one on this site that felt this way. I miss the Ford vs Chevy vs Mopar arguments I had back in the day.
zx32nr 11-01-2008, 08:00 AM [headbang] Buy America or it's Bye America!!!
damn rite.
have you ever noticed the majority of the "proud to be an american" stickers are on toyota's WTF? i love dumb ppl, lol
SVT_Focused 11-01-2008, 08:09 AM There were two at import day a couple of weeks ago at a drag strip near my house. They were both stock and running 11's i was impressed. it's nice but i don't want one I'll stick with my fofo it's reliable.
FullMetal_Focus 11-02-2008, 04:46 AM I saw a white GT-R last night comming out of the 76 located in Hollywood at the conner of Fountain and Highland. I was stopped at a red light when I notice it leaving the 76 on the other side of the street I was on. I told my friend "watch this guy is going to gun it right now" and too my surprise the guy driving it babies it out of the 76 and goes down the round going the speed limit.
No wheel spin, no hi reving, no nothing... Being Holloween night with the streets packed with cars and people in costumes, I would have bet a thousand bucks this guy with this "super car" would want to show off to the masses. Specially since every jerk with a G35 or 350Z around here thinks they are driving a GT-R and take every chance to show it off. But it seems I would have lost that bet.
I guess this guy has heard that the GT-R trannys are not so bullet proof.
faster_than_u 11-02-2008, 11:33 AM those cars are butt ugly and will never compare to the old gtr's. and from what i hear on the gtr forums is that the tranny is built by the same guys that built the veyron tranny. imo its a "super gay car" not a super car. if you build a car like that make it take the abuse and then when it breaks fix the damn thing under warranty if they dont wanna do that the dont build it. for me ill stick to the BUY AMERICAN.
mikebontoft 11-02-2008, 12:00 PM lol then maybe my friend doesn't know about the black box...... cause he tried to race me (lol fail for me :B) I mean, just to speed limit, but still....... can't they let us have a little fun with the twin turbo, double clutch, and like 420 hp engine? "GOSH!" (sorry, had to throw that in there [hihi])

lol probably true. I hate those people with their G35s..... one just floored it past me just because. I guess it's technically the newer Skyline that was never made...:B
captcurt_18 11-05-2008, 01:08 AM I saw one in Helena (the states capital.) pretty impressed there was one even in montana!
