this has probably been covered befor but, are there any down pipes that are legal and can handle the heat from shorty headers?

I think Focus Central make a DP or offroad pipe for the SPI.

I don't think any down pipe is legal. They are designed to eliminate the cat. You can pick one up at myfordperfomace.com . I put one on my spi With the shorty header and I noticed a nice increase through the power band. You will need a O2 cheater harness which u could pickup at newedgeperformance.com to take care of the check engine light.

Eliminating the catalytic converter on ANY 4 cylinder motor is gonna make it painfully obvious that your car is not legal. Its gonna make your car LOUD AS HELL!!

At WOT you can expect a nice high pitched and ground shaking event. lol

damn... so what should i do? go with the off-road pipe or what? cuz the stock cat, can't handle the heat from the shorty headers

After installing my exhaust kit I added a silencer for off the track use and the car is not loud at all. But with the silencer off it is really loud.

If you want to be safe, just get a high performance cat. If you just want to be crazy mofo, get the straight pipe!

It will have to be custom made.

I will give you guys a report after July 10th on the loudness. As of July 10th I will have a shorty header, off road pipe, and FS exhaust.

Yo sohcrev there is a universal cat on magnaflow.com y dun u check it out...it should suffice ur need for a cat. If i wasnt going to college in a month and my car wasnt at 30000 miles i would try it but lemme know what u do...

i know they have a universal one, but i'm looking for a high performance down pipe w/cat. if i cant i will go with a off- road pipe but i dont wanna use a silencer. and i dont think one will fit on a magna flow exhaust. would a flex pipe for a zetec work at all for a spi?

i dun think it will b/c the headers and the exhaust start at diff. places so u would need some custom work... do some research i guess.

No the zetec flex will not work.

The ABSOLUTE only way you are gonna get a high flow cat on an SPI focus is to have one custom made.

There are no more questions after that.
