looks like fun tho.

Sweet! We are in the process of pulling the motor of a 900 cc ninja to strap on an extended gokart to run at the track

The frame will hold up most deffinetly shifter karts run up to tripple digits all the time no problems. There are a group of guys in germany who built one with a turbo hayuabsa (however you spell it) motor 172 hp on a 200lb kart is surreal but we will not be going that far at all.

You better get some wheelie bars on that thing.

Master-Baits

i'd def want a roll cage.

the german cart was not a hyabusa engine it was a gsxr 1100 engine and the name of it was the gixxerkart. youtube it. since then several ppl have built them. i for was was wanting to build one more along the lines of a banshee or blaster engine to play on the dirt roads with since they are alot easier and cheaper to come across than a good crotch rocket engine. have fun with it cant wait to see updated pics.

ya, second the wheelie bar!! You will flip urself really easy!!

EuroPitchBlackSVT

A wheelie bar is not necessary. I know of gixxerkart there are a lot out there just the one was ridiclous fast. They are fast as hell with the 600 motor then you go and put a 1300 turbo motor on there its nuts.

How are you going to stop the engine heat from melting your head?

EuroPitchBlackSVT
08-03-2008, 07:58 PM
Were stretching the frame so it will sit lil further back and were going to wrap the headers and put a heat shield between the motor and seat.

Damn that looks like fun! Now you've got my mind thinking.

I like the banshee motor idea. You can squeeze 80+ horse out of those monsters easily. Mine's mostly stock other than exhaust and a fw other goodies but my brother-in-law has one that lays down 110 to the wheels with a big bore kit... they can feesibly put down 175+, potent little packages they are.

I was thinking the same thing. Get into the throttle hard and it'll make pretzels out of that 'frame'. [driving]

Um.... Thats suicide... If it will hold up... The tires are just going to spin and not go anywhere

Master-Baits
08-03-2008, 09:09 PM
^^^ Lol that's what I was thinking too. I would def stiffen up that little frame, it looks like the one my cousins ride around with a 5 horse briggs in it. You guys know better than me but I would def stiffen that thing up and put a roll cage.

EuroPitchBlackSVT

Were going to reinforce the frame there will be no problems there. The tires will spin like crazy through 1st gear. I cant wait to get this done.

Major 'GO' = need for major STOP.
Don't forget GOOD brakes.

EuroPitchBlackSVT

Were keeping the brake on the back axle and adding disc brakes in the front[thumb].

I think a rocket engine would be easier..... Your gonna kill yourself.... I applaud you and approve! I think that if I had a old motorbike engine laying around I'd do something similar. Just a thought, What are you going to do to add rigidity to the front of the frame? You planning Plate steel or an X-bracing of some sort?

EuroPitchBlackSVT

Were going to X brace it throughout. Probably have to put a lil weight in the front as well to assist with using the wheels for turning [rofl] we can just drift the damn thing around if not!

i think you need to rebuild a stronger frame

i dont know if anyone else has mentioned it.. but stiffen the frame -_-

haha

This thing is going to tear your neighborhood apart. def keep us informed and add more pics. i know you said you were going to x the hell out of the frame but i think what the other member said about flat plating might help out up front for your weight issue as well as rigidity.

I've taken another look.....

I'm no expert, but I've seen a lot of different vehicle under contruction. In my opinion, your frame is not going to be up to the job, even with reinforcement. You would have to 'double tube' it all the way around, with gussets, cross-bracing, triangulation, etc. for it to be up to the task. You may want to check E-bay for a professional shifter kart frame to start from.

gonzorelic
08-04-2008, 09:52 PM
that is a shifter kart frame dude. its just an old one. those things are made from pretty stout dom tubing so im sure its not going anywhere. not to mention with those small tires all its gonna be good for is drifting and spinning the wheels. its not going to make 1.40 60's or anything so im pretty sure its fine. and to the ppl about the wheelie bars, haha. that thing couldnt do a wheelie for nothing. just look at it. it has far too much front wheelbase and weight with a grown man on it to pick the front end up off the ground. it would need vht on a dragstrip to pull the tires and even then its not gonna pull them but a few inches. you guys watch too many movies...

Master-Baits
08-04-2008, 10:33 PM
....u mean it's not gonna do wheelies like the musclecar (forget what car it was) in the fast and the furious??? Damn.

That is AWSOME. I can't wait to see the progress of this.
I loved seeing that gixxerkart on youtube hauling ass around the track.
That thing should be a lot of fun.

I'm going tomorrow to pick up my frame, got the motor pulled... You def expired me to get my butt in gear... I'm going to run mine at the track some (start in 2nd gear).

How far are you going to allow your frame to be from the ground? I was thinking an inch to an inch and half for mine.

i have that exact frame! lol my dad built me and my brother a kart when we were little, it was decently quick with a 5hp honda!
