Spotted this SVT in Denver this morning ... it has Kansas plates, invader cf hood, dropped, tinted, exhaust, and aftermarket wheels.

My wife saw this exact car in the parking lot of SAM'S in Topeka about a week ago. I will post up the pick.

04-01-2010, 11:40 AM
funny that's it has been seen in these random places and no one knows who it is. The yellow sticker on the back is a "Baby on Board" sticker.

I figured with all the mods done to the car, that the person would likely be a forum member either here or at the other board ... but I think a lot of us are on both.

cdsilver02
04-01-2010, 12:40 PM
I can't get my photobucket to open here so I will post the pic later. It is a slick looking car. Did you happen to remember the two letter code int the left top of the tag? It tells wht county.

..:: sleestak ::..

no, but I do know the first three numbers of the tag were 666, lol.

personally, I would give the numbers out at a meet... bring money to purchase decals, shirts, etc.
Posted via FF Mobile

clnzx4
03-15-2012, 07:55 PM
But some of us can't go to many meets due to work. But I think it should be the active ones. Like the ones who post on a regular basis. And you must have like a certain number of posts before even being given a number. I'll purchase a decal if made, but I know due to work, I can't make a lot of meets and I'm not allowed to ask off for weekends.

Hey, im back, we can revamp this or start another. but i think there needs to be rules for mid west crew such as a certain number of posts or even event attendance if we need too.

i was not a fan of giving out a million numbers at the beginning to people with less then 20 post but it happened.

let me know what you all are thinking. on how we should revamp.

i can also make new vinyl soon and other stuff too.

euro-bred

Yay, how about number of posts and contribution to the cause. I don't necessarily agree with event attendance because some of us work unusual hours and and live far away. The "midwest" is a large area and everyone is spaced out. I've had my focus since 2004 and have been modding it just as long... to say I can't be a part of the group because I don't attend some events, doesn't mean I'm a flake. Anyways, glad to hear we are getting this thing going again! [thumb]

Personally, I think that the goodies should be handed out or bought only when the person meets the requirements and shows up to a gathering. Numbers should not be claimed and are given out in the order that you personally purchase the decals. Anyone disagree?

and at what point do people get numbers or decals etc?

I think a gtg requirement should be made to get a "member decal". I understand work gets in the way at times but for the past 4 years I have gone 1000+ mile trip for meets. I have also driven 3+ hours every year for the past 3 years to meet with KC people. I know myself and Elias are outlying in Lincoln but if you want to meet other members, you will make it happen.

Something like, if no one has ever seen you or your car, you shouldn't get one? That kinda thing? To me that makes sense. Part of being in a "crew" is to be part of the crew. Maybe not just limit it to physical presence tho, since some people aren't able to make meets, but participation in the Midwest regional forum should be a factor. I'm not sure on the post count. We wouldn't wanna look like a bunch of douches saying a new guy can't be part of our group because he doesn't have enough posts.

I definitely agree with "re-vamping" this. However, I disagree with having to attend events. I am required to work every other weekend. I am not allowed to ask off for the weekend I work. It's very rare that an event is held on a weekend I am off. I've had to miss multiple local events due to work. If I could ask off and not lose my job, I totally would, but it's not an option. I know I'm not the only one who has a job and wants to keep it since obtaining a job is quite difficult in this economy. I will try to make it to events given they are within a reasonable distance. I don't find driving 10 hours for a one day event is reasonable. I'm only part-time so I don't want to put my whole paycheck into my gas tank just to make it to events.

I thinking definitely being active on here should be a priority. If a member becomes inactive, then maybe they could lose their number unless they have a valid reason for being inactive.

I also will buy decals even if I don't attend events. I'm willing to support & represent our Midwest Crew.

i agree

it makes sense to make some of these rules tho, cause whats the point of wanting to be part of the crew if you never want to be with the crew at any point?

does that makes sense?

i understand it can be hard to make an event but effort goes a long way instead of just saying "i cant come"

as stated no rules have been made yet, we are feeling out ideas

clnzx4
04-03-2012, 11:11 PM
I'm not saying I don't want to be with the crew. I'm just saying under my circumstances, I may not be able to attend events. I don't feel it's quite fair to not let someone who wants to be a part of a group have a number or represent because of work, money, and personal issues they can't avoid.

I can't afford to get a hotel every event because I have to drive a good distance for a meet. I can tell you Kansas City is a good 6+ hours from where I live if that gives you any idea of where I'm from.

How about setting up something, idk if Google maps would, but some sort of a map to show where each member is geographically and have a number of representatives. Each representative could set up small meetings and basically vouch for the others that are unable to attend the larger events.

Just a thought, I mean I couldn't care less about a number, I just want to contribute and help out the focus community. That is a passion of mine, I love the focus, look for reasons to drive it and make mine more unique. In fact, I currently have several custom projects that I am working on for the focus.

I understand that I am unable to attend meets because of work, but that's life. I work evenings and get weekends off about every 6-7 months... That's my excuse. I do think that my representative idea would work though. I'll look around tonight and try to find some sort of a map that everyone could sign up on and mark their location, from there 'the gods of the midwest crew' can decide who is worthy of being a representative of smaller groups. Each representative would keep track of the members in their area, state, or assigned distance and set up smaller meets or some sort of contact by either forum posts, emails or even phone calls or texts... depending on how willing or devoted we might want to be.

If this idea is bad then shoot it down. If it's good, then lets start this thing! I'm an act now guy, we can work out bugs as we go! [thumb]

I think the overall goal is the revamp the midwest crew for the people that are active within the midwest rather then just throwing out some numbers to people and saying welcome to the group.

im also guessing we might start little factions within the group since we are pretty spread out.

I would abandon the "little factions" as it would be cumbersome to administer in any reasonable manner, and it is also exclusionary were I would think we would want to be inclusive (Who would want to be in a minor faction of 1?). I will also suggest that for stickers, we simply tag our cars in a very understated way. Simply come up with a small, modest color coded tag (I would suggest 2 inches square max). This to be mounted on the rear window. Renewal every two years and the color changes. In this manor, others can spot your number, but the color lets them know if your current (vs. car was sold and the current owner simply has not removed the sticker). This would greatly facilitate 'spotting'. If you like the idea we can discuss in more detail.
My 2 cents anyway!

Well, consider. Many folks (not necessarily this group) have expressed reluctance to put stickers on there cars ( I am in this group). To make a max sized 'sticker' (2" x 2") you would not really have room for a crew name (or it would be so small as to be irrelevant). Also, IMHO, its rather pointless. Lets assume that the current 'sticker' is green with yellow digits (high visibility, note I am not a fashion mogul). Anyone in the 'crew' would recognize the sticker and whether or not it is current. Anyone else most likely would not care. If I were to spot a sticker, I could post "hey, spotted number XX". Or, if the color was expired, Hey! spotted old number XX (prob not owned by FF forum member). This permits the Admin the opportunity to 'recycle' old numbers.

Since the point of this is to get everyone involved, and since you already know how to do the map thing, I think that maybe you should take control of the map.

This seems like licensing... I'm not sure if this would be tasteful looking. I don't like to put any stickers on my car that are not white, I think that if I have to put a yellow or red sticker (example) on my blue car it would look like crap. Others might agree because we all drive different color foci.

I don't see how you connect it to a license. Tasteful? any car anymore is festooned with safety, emissions stickers. I also have my subdivision sticker (currently lime green. And yes that is where the initial thought came from). Please see last comment.

I agree with you. I don't put 'stickers' on my car voluntarily. But, let me say that I have not told you the nature of the 'stickers'. I.E. there not actually sticky (more on this later if desired).

Comment: The reason that these oft repeated attempts to 'nit' our community together is the reluctance to self identify. There are LOTS of focus on the road. The 'sticker' is voluntary, essentially non-traceable (unless you know what it signifies, hence know where to look), etc. Let me just say that, in the age of facebook, an innocuous sticker is hardly life changing. I also think folks get a little weird about color. Regardless of the color combo, There so small as to not even register in most folks mind. You (we) tend to focus on colors as we tend to be somewhat anal about our cars (as demonstrated by 'Welcome to Focus Fanatics).
I will sum up by simply saying, to get a little, you have to give a little. But! Also, keep in mind I am not saying this is the only way. I only posted it up as 'food for thought' or conversation. In my head, it would work (granted in a limited fashion). [wave]

I'm meaning "licensing" because we put different color stickers on our license plates every year. My car is not festooned with safety and emissions stickers on the exterior, or interior... I removed them. I understand your idea, and I also think it would work, but I personally will not be putting any color coded stickers on my car.

Well, I cannot remove all the stickers (much as I would like to). Also, please don't fixate on a color scheme. AvieF stated all his are white. OK I guess. So one could make a black background with white lettering? Still high visibility and all neutral colors. You could simply alter the font or apply a pattern for renewal. MANY ways to do it. But, I also feel that many folks are simply adverse to any sort of mounted identification. So it is probably a moot conversation at this point. [:)~]

I sorta tried to suggest something like this at one point. Folks seemed to be more interested in shooting it down than having any creative input. The point I was trying to make at that time was essentially, no one buys the FF stickers as they are (IMHO), to large, to white, mount outside (vinyl I believe) etc. Personally, I would suggest a small sticker, dark background with offset color and small. Anyone that is 'in the know' would see it (as we would tend to look for it). If you follow certain rules, they would be 'invisible' for the majority of the public (think of the 'dancing bear' video). Anyway. As said. Moot conversation at this point. [wave]

Well, Price is a concern I agree. But I just used 'the google' and found several sites that sell 'static cling windshield sticker'. You can get a two color (or three if you count the background) for ~ $1.50 each (min 125). But! may I suggest that depending, we could prob make our own (with some assistance for those that do not have certain basic services available locally).

I like the idea of having "Midwest Crew" and the member number. I really don't want to have a 2" sticker that I would have to explain its meaning to every person I see/know. I want to be able to put something on my car that states what it is. I personally feel its a better way to represent. I'm about to put a banner sticker on my car for our local car group. I would like something like that for our group. Not a tiny "licensing" square/rectangle or whatever shape it is. I think we should have options. Fonts, colors, sizes, etc. I don't want to pay for something I'm not going to like. I'm not made of money or have money to spend on things I don't want.

I'd rather have something like what was previously used. A "logo" of sorts. We should be proud to belong to this group and willing to show it off accordingly. If the decal stands out and shows a purpose, this could potentially recruit more people to join (much like leaving the business card type thing on a focus we see in the parking lot).

I think that the current people already with an old decal and an assigned number should have their own roll call to determine who wants to keep their current number and figure out who still exists. There should be a time limit on the roll call for those people, say a week or two? Once that is established, then us folk without an assigned number on a decal will fall into place and fill the holes where others didn't meet the criteria... just my thought.

That's a good idea. More of what I was thinking. The people who have a number but haven't been on in a long time need to be taken out and replaced. The numbering thing needs to be started over and the old members need to get their smaller numbers and then move on to the ones without a number. Then from there we can deal with decals.

I think someone needs to be a leader though. Otherwise there will be no backbone really. There needs to be someone to assign numbers, make sure people are happy with how things are working out. Someone needs to take on a responsibility. Should we go with an older member, or start over completely? I mean we see who is active & who isn't. I know some people won't be happy with getting replaced, but that's why they should be active. It's not hard to post a few times a day or so. Just my thoughts though.

pfft! Between charging my dumb battery and working, I've been messing around on here. Now I'm waiting for my fresh coat of undercoating to dry for another and I WILL NOT become a victim of rust! [:)] I'm doing it the right way [thumb]

It's difficult for anyone to stand up and do anything right now because we do (somewhat) have an active leader. He just doesn't get on as much as we might like, but he is still active. IMO, he should remain in charge until he resigns. It would be incredibly rude to take over what he has already started and would create a potentially bad situation. For now I think we should just be patient and continue to mull ideas over amongst ourselves and hope it has a purpose.

Boom, Leader is kinda back

i know that i did orginally start this. i cant check this as often as you guys tho. but i do like some of what people are saying

Here are my ideas and some of what your are saying

Group rules / The Plan
-We need to go threw the old group of people and see if they are still active or meet new rules for joining the group.
-All old members of the group that are no longer around will be removed from their # and or spot.
-We will then move every one forward to their new number or fill in around them (we can decide as a group which one is best)
-Make new rules for the group (started below)
-Then finnish up logo ideas and start doing decals and such

My Ideas For Rules(not final)
-Must own a focus or fiesta
-Have to be living in the MW region (not hard)
-I think you need a minimum number of posts I think the lowest it should be is 50posts. Which isnt actually hard to do at all. I like the idea of this rule because it shows a little bit of dedication to the group and the site. (and thats the point of being on the crew)
-Insert rule here (let me know if you have any)

let me know what you guys think. But this should be a good place to start.

clnzx4
04-12-2012, 08:44 PM
I think they need a few more than 50 posts. That doesn't take much to get. We need people who will be active. So maybe something more like:

1. Must have xx amount of posts a week/month? I mean it's really not hard to be active.

But other than that, I am down with just about everything!

I like that idea, but I don't think it's possible to enforce it... you can't tell how many posts someone makes in a week or month.

clnzx4
04-12-2012, 09:15 PM
I just think we need a way of making sure people are active. I mean I can post 50 posts and be done.. go inactive.. So I don't know. Hopefully someone will have a better idea!

eliaslincoln
04-12-2012, 11:47 PM
^well that why i think it should be higher, i just don't want t offend to many people with that idea. but if others enforce it then i will enforce it too. personally i think 250posts would be good. at the point for most people decide if they stay on a forum or not. and for me that would have take about a month for 2 when i first joined here on foucsfanatics.

weekly/month post counts are out, it would be impossible to track correctly and that a little extreme. and i know some people are to busy to post during certain months of the year when job stuff is more busy ect.

i still want more feed back but as for the other post rules for ideas go let me know if they sound ok, after we kinda figure out the parameters i think i might try to get a sticky thread at the top of the midwest section just for the group list of members and their numbers, nothing people can post in that will eventually become confusing (example, this thread.)

clnzx4
04-12-2012, 11:54 PM
That sounds good. I definitely think we need to start going through the old members & seeing who is active and not.. That's a good start. Then go from there.

I'm up for anything but I know when ya start implementing to many rules people opt out. Happened in hatch nation. But on the other hand we don't need whinners in the group then lol. Post count is good, I say 250 is good :)

Hmmmm! OK. I will kibitz.
Before you all start making up 'rules'. You may want to 1st define the functions of the group. Rules enforce the function, not the other way round. This is often referred to as a 'charter'. The charter lists the functions of the group. The rules enforce the charter. The rules can change as necessary. The charter not so much (if it has been thought through carefully anyway).
So, what would be the functions of the group? Then define what rules are needed.
Just trying to help here. I will shut back up now! [wave]

Add >> P.S. Per AvieF (http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/member.php?u=83452) comment above. This also (should) prevent a bunch of rules being created that don't support the charter. I.E. If a proposed rule does nothing to support the charter, then it cannot become a rule.
(And I therby give an example of what to put in the charter.)

I can imagine that took some time to make the list. But the question is, why? (Now keep in mind here I am trying to help, not just P.O. folks).
Now think. You give (or take) a meaningless number. What purpose does the number serve? You could say that you (we) want to give out stickers with the members number on them. OK! So that means that, to have any USE, your going to have to specify function. I.E. can the sticker be read from 30 yards, Placement must be specified, Is it current. etc. (what I was trying to get folks to see initially. No, this is not a sales job!). You MUST define the functions or your just spinning your wheels. Let me try to give an example why this is important. Lets say I go through Omaha, and AvieF just happens to be behind me. Without a meaningful way to I.D. me (and I her (him?)), then how would they propose we meet? Let's for conversation sake say that AvieF has a current sticker in here rear window (same approx place she (he) spotted mine. AvieF would then pass me so that I could see her (his) sticker. I would see that it is current (and thereby also know that this person is not suffering some mental break or road rage). Lights flash, arm motions etc and we pull over to say hey, meet etc. The sticker has now performed a valuable FUNCTION. Without a function, why bother? Hope I have clarified this somewhat. [wave]

Add >> Example charter entry: To promote the group and encourage casual 'meets' between active members. (or something like that).

P.S.S. Per my example above. What if some strange focus was to follow me in Omaha. They have an old sticker in there rear window (many years say). There honking, waving, zooming around me etc. Well, depending, my prob 1st reaction would be to call 911. Just sayin! [screwy]

I think that's a little out of proportion honestly. Or if someone does see a number that's associated with this then most they will probably do is honk..but I highly doubt there will be lights flashing, etc.

i can see what you are saying but i think your over thinking things a little bit.

I want to remove the people with FREE by their name and Slide everyone forward in the list. Therefore you receive a number at which you became a member of the group. Kinda like our member numbers on ff.

Also i want to remove the people in the FREE spots on the list and start off with rules what will hopefully prevent spots being take up by people who post once and become inactive on the site and inactive within the group.

As for their being a group it started as a fun idea years ago and the function of the group is just to show a higher level of dedication for focus owners within our region.

I say taking a look at the list, if the person hasn't been active in months, take them out. Then if they decide to come back and be active then they can start over with fresh numbers.

This should be a fun group. There should be some rules laid down just as a backbone so if by some chance something doesn't go so well, there are rules to refer too.

Has anyone tried to make different versions of the hatch "Midwest Crew"?

Agree/Disagree!
If you (we) just want a place we can gather (virtual), Well, we are all 'here' already. No further effort is needed. But once we start talking about stickers, post counts, etc. Are we not trying to create a club? We have to make a decision as to what were trying to accomplish. You don't have to write a charter. But your going to make it alot easier if you do. IMHO >> We do not need a long-a_s charter. Actually, the simpler the better. Remember. A charter only defines what your trying to do. Rules define how you do it.

So, I would have maybe a 2 line charter at this point.

Purpose of this group (Midwest Crew). (EXAMPLE)

1: To promote and foster fellowship among Ford Focus/Fiesta owners in the Focus Fanatics forum defined as 'The Midwest Crew'.

2: No rule shall be approved that does not support the charter statement above.

OK! That is all pretty broad. Now, you can right a rule(s) to support the mission. If we start getting to many rules, then rewrite the charter to narrow the scope.

If this is all a bit to much, then we are done really. This forum serves the purpose of a casual gathering location (which is its function). [wave]

The forum itself is not a car club, however I think what we are really trying to do is take this outside of the forum. Make it to where we have meets, do different things together. And maybe in the future it will turn into a non-for-profit organization. And if people want numbers, let them. If you don't agree with it, you don't have to have one. You can be a part of the forum, just not have the stickers and all. There's nothing wrong with that. I think it would be cool to have a club outside of the forum and that's gonna take a lot of time and organization.

I think we should keep some of it on here but then do meets, events, etc. Expand it a little. Like maybe find the centrally located place and hold a meet there like once a year or so. Along with local meets like SEMO, St. Louis, KC, etc.

Another idea would be to set a maximum travel limit. Lets say for sake of discussion, a maximum travel limit is about 4 hours. This would put clnzx4 outside the meet area if it were K.C. (actually, the real time drive from STL to KC is 4.5 hours). I.E. It's best to localize. The idea is to encourage/enable participation for all crew members in some sort of event, even if there smaller in scope.
Yes/No?

I'm saying like if we do do a meet in KC, make it big and only do it like once or twice a year then have multiple smaller ones closer to home.

That's typically how it has been in the past. For the past 2 years we have done an October meet in KC that has been pretty large.

For me, I've been going to a nation meet early in the season and we would do the kc meet late in the year. The 3 hr drive to KC for me is a little far for a "small meet" but I'm more than happy to do it if there is interest from more than 5 cars. I've made some very good friends over the past few years and I always look forward to meeting new people.

I'm willing to make the 6+ hour drive if I know there will be a good turn out. But as far as local meets, I may make it to a St. Louis one. It's at a least 2 hour drive. But since there aren't many people down here, then it would be worth it.

yeah, kc is the most central for the majority of the group
omaha/lincoln = 3 hr's
des moines = 3 hr's
wichita = 3 hr's
stl = 4 hr's

there are def other smaller gatherings that are more localized and are more of a hang out or work on cars thing that the larger ones are. I've organized several midwest meets and have had good and bad ones. had one a few years ago set for mid march. bad weather that day so we pushed it back a few weeks and only had four cars from kc all drive to como and no one else made it. we also had one in kc a while back that had 12 or so cars from all over.

Pretty much. Not a city girl, but all the good stuff happens up there.

I'd rather have my open fields, small towns, & farms than all the city lights, many buildings, & no scenery. Sunsets & stars are way prettier out in a field on the tailgate of a truck than it is in a city.
