was talking with some people the other night
came to the conclusion that I want a new engine.
Was told about the Inline 6 engine which apparently the Skylines have.
1) Would it fit an 01 sedan? (replacing the spi)
2) Anyone know of any other engines that would be a good swap?

Anything can be done, just with modification and time.. Do some research on some different motors compare them and go for it.

For serious, the best inline 6 engines are made by nissan and jeep.
But of course you would have to find a used JDM nissan, because they don't make an inline 6 anymore, and the same with the jeep....... because they don't make them anymore.
Nissan would probably be better than jeep..... considering the gear box and trans and everything. but I've heard of people dropping in RB engines into cars like cobalts, so I'm sure you could do it without having to cut your arms off and file for divorce.
I think you will be really hard pressed to make an I-6 fit, N-S or E-W. Not saying its impossible, but a V-8 is a tight fit, and an I-6 is 2 cylinders longer.

If your going to do and straight 6 swap do a 2j or a 1j out of a supra

A straight svt swap would be nice :). wouldnt have to do any fab and modding work

not to be difficult but the best inline sixes are not made by jeep or nissan, they are made by BMW..... the RB from nissan and the supra ones are definitely good ones tho.

Swap in a 6 cyl. out of an E36 M3... 240HP stock, tons of torque, and easy to mod...

I honestly don't think an inline 6 will fit in the car, not if you want a transmission to go along with it anyways...
if you are staying FWD - contour SVT V6 swap (did they have those in Canada?)
if you are going RWD - kugel komponents 5.0l swap, but you do have to give up your indipendant rear suspension for a live axle, and use a horribly small fuel tank
if you are sticking FWD it would be cheaper to sell your car, find a used SVT (it was called an ST170 in Canada right? not to be confused with the ST in the states that came later and paled in comparison...) and S/C or T/C it... just my .02

its still just an SVT in canada
and we did have the contour svt, just not many of them
regardless i think a svt swap with a turbo would make more sense at the end of the day

I know of someone that swapped an RB26DETT into a focus wide body hatch.... converted it to awd using mostly skyline parts.... if I can find the post... i'll link it up.
here ya go...
for some reason it wont let me paste the link... so go to http://forums.focaljet.com and search for RB26
