: HOW Ford Should Build the Special Edition

Ok so appearantly we have seen so far that the special edition consists of a rear deck spoiler and maybe a couple decals... who knows what else?

That's all we have for now...

Lets all chime in and voice our opinion of what "WE" would like to see from the Focus "Special Edition"

4 wheel disc brakes
more power, a motor that revs to 7k, prefer forced induction
good 5spd (or better yet a 6spd)
good leather interior
nice gauges, that go past 140 lol
nice sound system, much like audiophile, with ipod hookup and subwoofer
nice suspension, roughly 1in lower then stock
HID headlights andfog lights that actually work
a color matched grille, and a good ground effects kit

i just want a damn base to work off of.

1- agree* higher rev's and around 170hp would be nice
2- by "good" make suggestions for improvment
3-agree* but the whole green thing is really popular and leather isn't very green
4-more of a race style gauge set up, explain nice
5-combo the sync with audiophile sytem?
6-explain nice a little further please
7-agree* if your going to give it to us make it worthy
8-please supply photoshop or pics of suggestion here, this is a matter of taste.

Please post pics and links to info you guys. If this is going to be a ligit thread for them to look at we need to make it as easy as possible for them to research cost and devolopment.

2. a limited slip would be ideal. but i doubt it. a getrag tranny mated to a d-tec motor would be a dream.
3. the seats from the green edge are made green and theyre incredibly nice. seats like that would be perfect.
4. i think something more like what the svts had. with a silver face and green glow.
5. bingo sync, audiophile, and upgraded speakers would be the shit.
6. stiffer springs, slightly bigger rear sway bar, better dampers. a lower stance and more aggressive stance.
8. color matched grille seems self explanatory

that kind of a lip kit would be ideal and the blacked out grille is shown here as well.

No, I don't want that stuff. If you recall Saturn boy, I am a mustang fan, so I've seen quite a bit a Steeda stuff in my time. And again, I've never liked any of it. How you can project from me saying that I don't like steeda appearance packages that I want "huge wings and sharp lines" is beyond me.....other than once again, you are just trying to start an argument by saying the first retarded thing you can think of to say to someone. [rolleyes]

If you actually knew anything about me, rather than just making assumptions based on nothing, you would know that I prefer more subtle clean looking exterior modifications. In the future, look for updates on things I am doing with my current car, and you will see what I'm all about. Then you will be able to make proper guesses about the kinds of things I might like, instead of just being a keyboard hero saying anything you can think of.

well dont call me saturn boy, what does insulting a car i had 3 years ago matter. that saturn would have dumped all over any mustang you owned (or own). i made that comment about the steeda kit because its known for flowier lines the most other kit. hence sharp lines and huge wings. its subtle with nice under tones. what would you prefer they do to the exterior of the car?

im trying to be a keyboard hero? where? did i come in and save anyone with my keyboard? stop trying to villianize me here. its rather pathetic for you think that i am actually trying to pick a fight with you. i have better things to do with my time then that.

I would use frpp spings and black eap wheels. Rear disc brakes from the ST. A 6-speed tranny. A header with a cat in it to provide more hp and mileage and able to swap onto older Foci with ducatechs (which would be a way to recoup some r&d money). Borla cat back exhaust. For the interior do aluminum sill plates, pedals, shift knob, aluminum trim pieces and black leather seats with no adding or deleteing anything but n-sync stereo. Maybe a 5 speed auto as an option.

The focus GT will be a little higher than that. The brand new saleen N20 focus was 25K when I looked at it. The first focus GT in the true sense of a GT will be very powerful when released. A quick change would be an american released motor already in circulation, one with a little more displacement.

"there will still be room for a hot ST, which will use a 260bhp version of the current 2.5-litre five-cylinder turbo." will this be our special edition?? Will they simply call it a "st"? Surely not a "SE" for Special Edition, lol.

How the Focus Special Edition should be built, in DURATECoftheDesert's mind.

1)VVT/VCT
2)Re-resurrect the 2.3 I-4/Mazda's 2.5 I-4 MZR
3)6 Speed Auto/6 Speed Manual/Mazda's Tiptronic transmission system
4)17 Inch wheel with Low Profile tires
5)4 Wheel Disc brakes
6)Re-resurrect the Street Appearance Packages
7)ABS Standard/No Traction Control/No Anti-Stability Control
8)Make Sync Standard (Reasons for the Hands free law of july 1)
9)Serviceable Airbox/Aftermarket parts friendly
10)SVT Suspension/Sway Bars/Strut Bars

That's all I could think of at this moment, but this are vital to the Focus heritage to share components with the Mazda 3.

All I'm saying is look at the "special edition" escort that europe got... The Cosworth RS.
We never got one... one can only imagine how great that would have sold over here... Also... Look at the "special edition" focus's they got! ST170 (svt), The RS and the new ST's!!

C'mon man... The only way Ford killed their line up is not bringing the right "special editions" to america of the model of cars they already sold here!!

^^^ correct , same point as me

C'mon man... The only way Ford killed their line up is not bringing the right "special editions" to america of the model of cars they already sold here!!

^^ misunderstood me. I have been asking all over, which cars are going to be produced along with the special edition focus? Do you think they will produce them all along side it? I would say no. When Ford switched body styles on the cars I mentioned here in the states they offered a GT version the year or 2 before then did away with the old model. But when they offered the GT version they usually cease production of a lower end model and make pricing adjustments to work the "special edition" model in.

So what I'm saying is which model do you think they will get rid of?
SE
SES
ST
because there will be a "special edition" so that would make four models. Unless they label the "special edition" focus the GT (as the past would dictate) and take out the middle of the road ses, lower pricing on the last run of ST's and SE's to move them for delivery of new cars.

we won't get this ever again.....SVTF was the swan-song of the focus development. Until ford realizes that not everyone WANTS a new mustang and makes something with BALLS for us, it won't happen. They are perfectly happy with making crappy foci as long as the mustang sells....and it will.....so they won't use any extra money for development for the future focus.

Make something with Boost that is fun, just like EVERY OTHER sport compact car company is doing........

Chevy: Cobalt SS
Dodge: SRT-4
Mit: Lancer EVO
Subaru: WRX/STi
Ford Europe: RS/ST225
Toyota: Scion/w S.C TRD
Ford America: .........................the jury is still out on this.

(oh, wait, nevermind...ford doesn't CARE what we want. and bringing the MK1 focus over here was a MISTAKE. it only won car of the YEAR the first year it was over here). You just keep wasting money on the re-tooling Ford. I'm SURE you could have built the MK2 by now.........

I really like the designs presented in this thread.....too bad they will never be seen......

If they do not offer a manual, I am crossing all and any plan I would have of buying any new focus. Story closed on that front alone.

All of Best's ideas are good.

I would suggest though, that they freaking make ALL the chrome body colored and all the b/c pillars glossy as well as the mirrors like on the SVTs.

And the shitty-ass stock rims need a make over drastically. Any use of Firestone tires will be forbidden--worst tires I have ever driven on (stock focus tires).

Functional vents for engine bay...

SPIman2.0
07-16-2008, 10:12 PM
Heres my whole take on this even though other people have probably already said the same thing.

1. MOST IMPORTANT! More power. Perferably up around 200 bhp if it's na. Maybe up at the cobalts 260-270 if it has FI.
2.Dropped suspension. Stiffer, and somewhere around .5-1 inch(s) lower than stock.
3. a FUNCTIONAL Aero kit. Not flashy, but distinctive, and functional.
4. 4 wheel anti lock with a ceramic disk and pad option???
5. LITE wheels. Not like like looking wheels, but lite wheels, like..... below 19lbs. a peice.
6. Sticky and Fat tyres as standard.
7. HID's and fogs that ACTUALLY WORK!
8. sporty yet comfortable interior. Not leather, but something like that wetsuit material or the fabric that Volvo uses in their seats. Definitely something with heavy side bolsters.
9. TC/ESC as standard with A FULLY OVERRIDEABLE SYSTEM AND NOT JUST A BUTTON THAT BACKS OFF OF IT A LITTLE BIT!!!
10. Last but not least. Something that puts all of this in an affordable range. I'm not saying that it has to be 20k, but don't give us what we want and then tell us that we could buy a GT for the same price.

Step it up Ford. We all love you, but get your head out of your ass and stop being money grabbers. Keep up with the competition and give us something to live for!!!
