Yea, just make sure you stay out of it.

well first off, if you stay under 5000rpms your DSI will never open anyways, so it wouldnt make a difference. So staying under 4000 just to be safe will not affect anything in the car what so ever!

next, and someone correct me if im wrong, but i believe you can still rev all the way untill you hit the rev limiter, obviously the DSI wont open up, but ive heard that it really doesnt harm anything, you just wont get the air to the engine as fast!

im saying this cause i think some FI guys on here with SVTF have a broken clip and just leave it cause the FI messes things up or something...on the otherhand i think they prefer leaving it in the open position...just my $.02!

Does a CEL come on if there is a problem with DSI or IMRC or do you have to just run a diagnostic on it? I have no CEL but am worried that I may have one of these problems.

I'm not sure as I replaced mine before it broke, but I would think that most likely when you first turn the car on and the DSI activates and the computer found out it doesn't work it would kick on the CEL. But I believe that it would only come on if the IMRC was not working properly. Just do a visual inspection: Have a buddy turn the car on to run position while you look at the actual DSI Lever/Clip and see if it moves, Also with the car running rev the car up past 5k and see if the lever does switch over. Hope this helps you.

yea my clip or lever switches over but i still have the studder at like 5-5500. do you think the imrc could be on its way out cause i dont have a cel on?

Does it make any noises? Not sure if this is the DSI but, my friends makes a cranking/grinding sound over and over like....rahh....rahh...rahh...rahh...there is a cable that keeps spining around and around and he just put vice grips on it and said [:)][:)][:)][:)] it.

Is that the DSI? Its located on the manifold side toward the bottom.....

mines real tight...i inspected it while i was putting on my CAI. dunno if its supposed to be like that or not though. i hope so, cuz damn i dont wanna mess with that crap!

There supposed to be fairly tight. Not so tight that it holds the DSI partially opened though.

how is that spring inside the clip hold down? cause it is a recoil spring right?

SVTF200487

yea, in the Billet one from CFM there is a slot for it. Also on the car there is a catch/Tab for the spring to push up against and then you twist the Clip and once it gets to a certain spot you have to push it on far enough that you can slide the retaining clip or e-clip back on.

I have had my '04 SVTF now for about 4 months. It is really a dog off the line. If I don't rev to around 1,500, it bogs down. Is this a symptum of a broken DSI?

No, Do you have the traction control button around the shifter? If you do, when you want to have fun(A Drag Strip or to show off- Not daily driving)pull fuse 46 and then you can easily turn the tires over.

I do have the traction control button - never really messed with it. My main concern is that it is difficult to launch when just driving normally.

For one our cars just don't make the low end torque you need to get off the line without high revs.

That's what I had been thinking until I read some of the threads on the DSI issue.

just unplug the IMRC. its in front of the driver's side front wheel.

Not for anything but when my dsi went out I had a much harder time taking off normally then i ever did. When i had gotten it fixed it was much easier and quicker to get off the line.

So, can I check the DSI from underneath without tearing out the airbox?

CT SVT
06-13-2008, 04:28 PM
no you need to remove the air box, i'm about to install my CFM dsi clip once the engine cools down.

CT SVT

well just replace the brokin plastic dsi clip w/ CFM metal clip. start the engine i hear clicking CEL on. the clip spring is in right place. had mom start the engine as i watch the dsi. the cable is not pulling the dsi leveler just jumps around, hear click from the motor and the cable isn't tight. looks like i need a new dsi motor/actuator
