OK...I went through this past winter on the stock EAP wheels and tires. It will be the last winter I even attempt to do such a foolish thing. I'm going to get a second set of dedicated snow/winter wheels, but I was wondering what would be the cheapest wheel/best tire for the job? I want to get a set of used stock wheels, since they're cheap. Is the bolt pattern for the SVTF 4x100? Would Honda wheels work, or are the offsets different? 15" or 16" better? I was thinking about getting some Blizzaks to mount on the wheels, since I've had them before and they seemed to do pretty well in the snow/cold. Just not sure what size would be best or what wheels from which model focus/other car would work on an SVTF.

Generally, 15" wheels will not fit on SVT. The 16" from regular Focus are commonly used for this purpose. Wheels from Contour Mystique or Cougar should also fit OK. I am going to try a set of Goodrich Traction T/A T rated tires next time. They are pretty cheap and long lived with all good ratings on Tire Rack, with supposedly better than average snow performance over other all season tires in the size range. That's enough for my situation, but if you need a big improvement, then dedicated snow treads are the way to go, and practical, since you will be taking them off for most of the year. Blizzak tires are supposed to be amazing, but not as good as dedicated snow's, and probably more expensive.
