Well about a month ago, i started having a chirping sound beneath my '03 SVT so i brought it into the shop. I was told that it was a broken exhaust bracket and that I would have to bring it to Ford to take care of the problem.
I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem, and around how much it would cost for a replacement. I'm going to be taking it into Ford on sunday to see what they can do. I just can't stand to hear that sound anymore.

what bracket are they talking about? a chirping is metal scraping... i have that on mine... well did... the hanger on the exhaust was scraping on metal by the hanger... i had thick padded double sided tape that i put around the metal... and it's gone... can you phsyically see the brocken bracket? if so take a pic of it

I have no idea, I was just told this and i have not seen it. Its a chirping sound that gets very loud when beginning to move in 1st and continues when in low rpms. Its rights after I pop the clutch.

i had the same exact in mine.. until i did what i said. might not be the case for you... but i'd check to see this "broken" bracket first.

Sounds like you have a broken cat bracket. I'm going through the same crap. I have to run now, but I'll follow up with you on this later. Definitely can share some info.

I have the same problem where i hear metal tapping on metal. I don't want to butt in on
the thread, but I was wondering if buy a cat-back exhaust system would fix the noise or
will the noise still be there?

Sounds like you have a broken cat bracket.
If it is the cat bracket it, whether you can fix it yourself or cheaply depends on how it broke. Mine cracked in such a way that wrapping a heavy stainless steel band clamp around the entire cat and bracket and cinching it down tight completely eliminated the noise I was getting. It's been about a year now, and no noise. Fortunately it cracked someplace I could see it for myself, but with difficulty. If you can safely get under your car, snoop around. Maybe you'll be lucky.
