I'm new to the focus world and unsure of the specifics of everything. I just bought a 03 svt 2-door focus...I'm originally a mustang freak....well STILL am...but I'm starting to really get into the focus side of things....but my question was what's the best block to use for lets say a 300 hp+ build up? and do any focus' have forged cranks like the mustangs? any information would be awesome! thanks alot Jon

im not boosted, but ive done a lot of reading since ive been on FF and from what ive gathered, for around 300hp the SVT doesnt really need to be built to heavily if at all, the stock SVT components are pretty sturdy...if you want 300ish hp look into the xiosmotorworks (http://xiosmotorworks.com/xios_svt_focus_turbo.html) kit their numbers are up their...and after that too get a lot more out of your svtf focuspower (http://focus-power.com/view.php?showme=Home) seems to be the place to get a built engine!

ps...focis are not strait line cars (obviously) imo i would spend the money on better wheels/tires, a few n/a mods, and a great suspension set-up...
the focis gear box and entire set-up is better for rallyx or something similar
all this is IMO i know their are guys on here that will say im wrong but id rather test my driving skills on track, and not show off how much money i spent on my car to make it go fast and straight...
no disrespect, i just prefer rally style driving over drag!

your block and crank will hold up to just about anything.. for really big boost you would need internals, but i know that svt's have done 300 with stock everything

wow! thanks for all the posts! Yeah that makes me feel a lot better now...what's the most nitrous can you throw at a svt? 75+ I'll probably do n2o for a while and then go turbo....where's the best place to start on modding? the cars bone stock...on my mustang I did a lot or upgrades but I'm not sure if I should throw a o/r pipe on a focus...I've heard that upgrading your t/b is a must for starters....but what t/b and intake and exhaust should I go with? I'd like to cam it as well...and considering that it's super easy to cam these motors that won't be a problem...I'd really like to see what parts make the most impact...thanks for the help

well first off, the svt has some of the best cams out there and you would have to go custom to get a more aggresive set.... i would definetly go with the orp nd throttle body. the intake will help some i hear(i have the stock box for now) and the exhaust is pretty well set up... most people just remove the lunchbox resonator at the back and call it good. i just went one step further and got a magnaflow muffler and really like it. ive noticed the people really like the truebenz setup as well.
