I am looking to get a new exhaust system on my 04 STV. I need some help with picking a muffler. I want something with a deep sound not ricey. I hate to be vague but i dont know a lot about this.

magnaflow is always a good choice in my opinion.

there is magnaflow.......borla<----seems to be the most popular, does sound good though!......the rare flowmaster.......focussport.....i think a stealth??......any are gppd systems.....it all depends on what your taste is....everyone is gonna tell you that the one they have is awesome and the rest suck.....but do some searchin.....there is alot of info on here about exhaust.....also.....they range in prices.....so a budget is something to consider

I like Borla, cuz I have it. The sound is great, it does not sound ricey at all. It's not V8 deep but it is close, I like it when above 6k it kinda sounds like the 350z high pitched exhaust. But the downside is that Borla is expensive.

Like idk what i have on it now but it only gets loud when i lay into the car. I want something that will push up some HP but at the same time has some sound to it when i am driving around town.I don't want something people can hear it 4 blocks away. With video clips you don't know just how loud it is.

the exhaust on the svt now is a pretty good system......so going aftermarket is only gonna give ya sound for the most part....N/A (F/I is a different story).....any hp is so small that you won't notice it.....but its still fun to hear a good setup rip through the gears!!!!!

Would u guys say it is better to get a shop to do it for u. Or buy it online and do it yourself?

DIY all the way... exhaust mods are really easy to do. basic tools and maybe a saw are all you will need. If you know somone with a lift you can use for a bit it helps a ton.. trust me on that one

Like i just hate to burn the 500-600$ on it online and then get it on and hate the sound.

500-600 bucks what??[unsure] Borla which I heard is really expensive is only 400 through cfm, and I think you can find mrbp? at like 295-325. Just look around and search for it, don't settle on just one site.[burnout]

I just put on a MBRP catback. Not ricey at all. Very happy with it and the price is very good. Check out their web site.

That is the exact exhaust I have on my car. I bought it from the same place, it was a pain cuz my flex pipe bolts striped out and I had to cut them. But once you got the old exhaust out it took 45 min at most to reinstall.

it sound good?

Yep, A good bit deeper than stock, Not to much louder but it is a bit. When you lay into it around 2-3k it gets real deep, and around 6k it kinda goes high pitched like the 350z exhaust. I think it sounds great, one of these days I will get a sound clip of it and not just reving it up while in the driveway. That just doesn't sound the same as when it is under a load.

I hate to rain on anyone's parade but I've heard a lot of people tell me the welds on the Borla just don't last and then Borla won't fix them...some weird thing about Ford Performance being Borla, or something.

What I will HOPEFULLY someday be able to do to my car is get a TruBendz exhaust. Check out this option before you finally decide on an authentic Borla, because...well you don't really get anything from an authentic Borla you wouldn't get from TruBendz--you're just paying more. If you went with an authentic Magnaflow you'd at least be getting that nice anti-rust matting on the inside of the pipes, but you can't get anything bigger than a 2.25" Magnaflow, and IMO for an SVTF you'd want a 2.5" at least.

Check it out:

Clickity clack (http://www.trubendz.com/home.asp?producttype=exhaust&productfor=focus_standard&pagetype=productIndex)

Make sure you're getting stainless as well, you don't want the aluminized steel. Won't last as long.

While you are doing this, if you can afford it and you want some extra power, just a little tip--check out a high-flow catalytic converter. They're kinda pricey ($320?) but they say they're worth it.

Here, check out another website too:

They have a lot of stuff too and if you call, Ray's a cool guy, can answer most questions you'll have.

Hope that helps you decide. Welcome to the club btw [:)].

The Borla sounds good. My pal Mike has it. He likes it. I like rice, mine is HKS catback. Sounds GREAT!

I don't think that the HKS is too ricey.

i have a trubendz exhaust.......it was a good price and i like the sound but man......the workmanship was kinda shotty.........my "A" pipe was a foot short but they insisted it was for a svt.....then my tip was welded on crooked!!!....i was able to fix it all myself....but make sure if you order from them that you make sure you're gonna get what you need........even after all that i still like the exhuast......and the price was right

Hey Adam... the Borla will give you a good sound but it won't up your performance at all. If you haven't ordered anything yet, you should get a high-flow cat pipe instead.
