and it all really boils down to this,

i want to perform a swap, the estimates i get for work on my car(SPI) are getting outrageous, and i simply don't have the time or money for the car to be down...

so i want to swap to an engine that will allow me to mod it, and improve performance, with out an extreme amount of custom work

however i want the swap to be quick, and keeping cost reasonable would be great...

can i get some input on what would be viable options, ideally i'd like it to be done over a weekend, however i understand things can take time so i'd prefer no more than a days downtime, and i'd like for there to be no more than 3k costs (if thats feasable, if it is proven to me that a quality job could cost more)

Easiest should be the Zetec, afaik. Better would be the SVT Zetec.

Either way you would need:
Engine and accessories
wiring harness
tranny
ECU
gauge cluster

possible needs:
wiring for dash...

My .02 -- just find a nice used SVT for ~$6500

a different car would be far more cost effective

in a pinch you could buy a salvaged car for ~1500 and just swap EVERYTHING over

you're lookin at 2-3 days at least...

^^^^find a salvaged car with atleast all the motor and tranny parts, that way youll have everything you need,

does the SVT Zetec Swap require any machining/modification to engine bay/mounts or with the transmission?

i guess should be directing that to the other thread...

if you guys come up with anymore ideas please let me know... thanks...

Don't think it requires any machining or mods for the mounts. The SVT engine is a Zetec with a different head and better internals.

It is the wiring (dash and engine) that would concern me.

svt, zetec, duratec, spi all have different passenger motor mounts

zetec, spi, duratec all have different bolt patterns on the block, so the transmissions are not compatible

4f27e, mtx75, getrag, and iB5 all have diffferent driver side top mounts.

the dogbone is the same for all.
