right around 6000rpm i noticed my SVT rattles from up front...im thinking its a heat shield problem but there are no rattles at low-rpm, ive had that problem before (exhaust shield)
any thoughts on what it is?

When mine rattled it did it at all RPMs... I could only here it at low RPMs though because of my Exhaust.. But that does sound Like a Heat Shield problem!

I've had one rattle for a while at 1,500 (cat bracket or something that the stealership wanted $400 or some other ridiculous price to attend to - and I haven't tried to deal with yet elsewhere), and a new one for the past month or so at 3,000. So it's getting embarrassing and annoying, especially now with window-open weather approaching.

Meanwhile, MY heat shield(s) have apparently already been removed or have fallen off.

So if you get any answers, please post 'em (and I'll do the same). Güd luck!

Check your cat bracket first, then the upper half of the heat shield on the cat.

When my exhaust got killed about a 5 weeks ago, I noticed that ford didn't weld any heatshields to the new replacement cat. Woohoo!

Bump.

I've been having the same sound but around 5K. Is it the heat shield covering the exhaust header? Or something further down the exhaust line? Sounds to me like its coming from the engine bay?

Another place you can check are the heat shields that sit in front of the rack and pinion steering. There are some small black hardlines (brake fluid, maybe??) that sit really close to those. I had a spot on my passenger side in the front that was buzzing from hitting those lines. You can easily bend these long curved shields by hand or pliers.
