Has anyone noticed that an overwelming number of girls are getting into the rice thing? It seems as if we are losing a fantastic resource to the g/rice culture. If we could turn these gals, just think of the possiblilities! Car guys and car girls could finally have equal numbers, and we would all be happier. Opinions?[???:)][?|]

Most girls are interested in looks before performance, but are still interested in making the car faster. Remember, behind every ricer girl lies a ricer guy...even if it is her own father....for shame on you ricer guys!!!

There is a girl who runs around Alexandria VA with a Stock Focus with about a grand or more of body kit crap on it. She is no working on the motor and performance aspect.

Thank God there are plenty of women here on FF that know what it is all about.

Hey, don't trash the girls too much for the looks stuff! You know ther are a lot of ricer guys just as bad. I don't know how many ricer conversation I have bust into with the simple question: "so what kind of torque does your car make?" Met with blank stares...

It usually comes after a discussion that end in the conclusion that any car that can rev to 9 grand must be fast no matter how little hp and torque it makes. Sad...

Guys, you are right. There are more girls (around my area) that all they care about is looks and believe me they look like crap. You would think that girls would have more taste in looks then guys (sorry guys) but yuck.....

my cousin also puts money into his dodge avenger but all he is doing is putting a body kit and he split the exhasut cause he bought two mufflers for it. he has a cold air intake and he said it gives him about 20hp and by putting his mufflers he should be getting twice that much

actually i was going to be one of those who just hook up there cars for looks but ever since i came into this forum ive thought differently about and im just gonna save my money to do it right

yeah, I've never been a fan of the "ricey" stuff. I'm glad we have a place like this where we can all come together to laugh at, and ridicule cars to influence their owners to modify the car where it is fuctional and not just a heavy monstrosity.

Hey I started this post to make fun of ricer chicks (and guys). I am in no way defending them! I think any ricer is pathetic, I just wanted to point out that the looks over performance trend is universal amoung ricers no matter what the gender.

I believe the truely sad thing about the whole "rice" issue is that dealerships are wasting money doing "ricey" mods to stock cars when they could be investing that money into the engine...ex. cavaliers, sunfires, civics, etc. all come with spoilers (the cavalier's is the worst looking!!), "sport tuned suspension" that's not sporty at all, factory ground effects, and hubcaps...eww hubcaps!! Just make the wheel already!! If the wheels were mass produced like those plain black ones...they'd cost less!! (may cost the same now, but Ford marks 'em up a lot) Look at the Sony edition focus...How many people bought this car just to turn around and replace the speakers in it?? and how much do you think ford invested in researching this stuff before they would put their name and a warranty on it? Why the budget brand? Why Ford? Why? Use that money to give us a stock 60mm TB, or a bigger stock MAF (WTF's up with the large intake tube and a 50mm MAF??) or how about some gears and pulleys that aren't cast-iron??
The most disturbingly ricey thing I've seen stock so far is the Hyundai Tiburon with the ground effects, hood vents, spoiler, etc.....Wholey Sheet Main!!

See me, I do what I can afford...the engine stuff I can't afford yet so I'm just workin on the looks...I WILL do the engine work, but it'll take some time since its kinda expensive...I know the udp's aren't so I'm gonna get one next summer and save money through the winter...well pimp out u'r cars peeps ;)

well...I wasn't picking on people for not having this stuff yet. I was talking about automakers not making this stuff stock. On a mass production, they'd have more return than their investment costs. I'm sure they do some intentionally to leave room for aftermarket enthusiasts, but it's rediculous the amount of things we have to do to scavange for lost power before we can do modifications to add power. It's a ripoff!! how much money would it cost to make the MAF larger? I'd say less than a penny per car, but I could be off by a penny or a half cent.

they do it because there's no reason to make an economy car powerful and a lot of restriction is used to cut down on engine noise. that's a big thing when new cars are reviewed, how quiet they are.

as far as ricers go, i'm about sick of the whole deal. i understand why people hate it, but i hate the whole thing about only using functional stuff. why do people wear nice clothes? why do pants come with 46372 pockets going down the side of the leg? why do people have collars on dress shirts? it's simply stylish and if there was no fashion, only function, we'd walk around like cavemen. i understand someone wanting to dress up their car, and if they want to i don't see why we should make fun of them.

If there's no reason to make an eco car powerful, then why are they increasing hp all the time? every year they get a little more powerful. plus more efficient car = higher hp and improved mileage...they are one in the same. It's efficiency, and iron pulleys simply arent efficient, and lighter parts aren't noisy. Besides, my engine (2.0 Zetec) is really noisy, but they used sound insulation in the firewall to dull that a little with the windows up.

I think that it goes both ways, I'm a ricer myself at the moment. Little by little I am working on the exterior of the car and then jumping into the interior. There's nothing wrong with that, I don't think. But I see your P.O.V. definatly. ~No hard feelings [thumb]

john i lived in california for 15vyears and i know that most of the girls there who liked to hook up there car was just for looks. most of the rides you will see that may look faster than yours may not be at all cause they are mostly ricers

Um at the age of 20 if anyone would pay for my insurance i would love to Drive a Z06 come on anyone who says they wouldnt is full of it fast, slick looking car i would just opt for the chrome rims verus the anodized. The Z06 is beautiful.

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. My wife just told me yesterday that she wants an new exhaust and CAI for her car. She doesn't know a lot about cars but at least she's interested and asks questions. Oh and she has big boobs and a nice butt!!

I'll take any Corvette (especially the 2003 or the old stingray). Have you seen the 2004 Corvette? It's a throw back anniversary model...sweet!! I saw one at a car show this past weekend (white w/ red interior...classic vette). It had some guys kid standing next to it, and he said his dad ordered it a few months ago, and paid $95K for it!

Seems like I'm quite lucky. Around where I live, not many girls drive ricey cars - at least not overwhelming. Quite often I'm amazed that they are driving a WRX or something similar, and not a riced out econobox.

Oh, and my little "sister" is crazy about cars. She is 23, drives like crazy in her old Volvo and if she would have money, I bet she would spend most of it on making it go faster [:D]

When we are in my Focus, she always turns up the volume all the way, so I'm thinking maybe I have to do some further upgrades as the Alpine 5 channel seems a little underpowered when she gets there [:D]

For the automakers it is what sells that matters, like someone said about collars on shirts, we have to have some style.. I like a car to look nice, it just has to work right first..Style is different for dif. people, what I might like in a wing on a car may be dif. than what the next guy ( or gal) likes, the problem is the really loud fast looking stuff that doesn't go for crap.
I used to be into rock climbing pretty heavily, you did not show up in loud neon colored spandex unless you really, I mean really, knew how to climb ( my friend Pat is world class), anyway, nowadays everybody is in the look at me out fit and can't get on top of a bolder without help!!! The same thing applies in the car world, especially with the rice, its all been on here before, nitrous bottles for show, not even hooked up, etc.
Zx3 chick, you definately have your car squared away, I really liked it, nice mods, the car looks nice , but the mods you have made are well planned and work well, even though its one of those lumpy zx3's and not cool and sleek like a wagon![:p] .

I haven't seen any chicks around my neck of the woods with ricey cars. That being said...

My everyday runner is the original econobox 89 Civic DX. Slow=yes. But you know, the thing is pretty fun to drive. Good suspension, a bit of understeer, but that is to be expected from this kind of car. So I can understand someone wanting to make it more fun to drive by spending money on it. I won't, though... it's a freakin' econo box for gawd's sake! Defeats the entire purpose of the car to throw thousands of dollars at it. And a horrible waste for it to be on ricey crap.
