: Patterntek Guage Overlays... "Gauging Interest"
02-24-2008, 11:58 PM
Im looking to see if folks would be interested in guage overlays. We're looking to buy a bunch, get em dipped in Carbon fiber, Flames, Snakeskin, Brushed aluminum ect and have them ready to ship. Think this is something you'd want to do?

02-25-2008, 09:21 PM
I would be interested. Would you supply the gauge overlay or would be have to send that in too?
02-25-2008, 09:25 PM
I'd be interested in one for my '03.
02-28-2008, 12:05 AM
Im gonna look into different volumes of guage surrounds I can buy. That will help determine price. So as for feedback, would you guys rather send yours in, have a core exchange or buy it outright and you have an extra?
And just to make sure, im talkin about the part that directly surrounds the Ford racing speedo in the pic above.
02-28-2008, 12:12 AM
i would be interested. i would rather buy it out right instead of the core charge and all that. really interested on what the price for something like this would be. looks nice.
02-28-2008, 02:23 AM
That would be Effing awesome. Perhaps you will offer them as a package?
02-28-2008, 10:29 AM
I would honestly like to buy it as well. Less of a hassle.
03-01-2008, 01:09 AM
Looks like we will be buying the guage surrounds. No core exchange, they're pretty cheap.
03-01-2008, 02:03 AM
i want a red and black one
03-01-2008, 02:22 AM
would you also be supplying the overlay for the plastic part as well, or just the insert?
03-01-2008, 12:18 PM
I'd imagine FFers would be ALL over this!
03-01-2008, 09:41 PM
a projected price????
03-01-2008, 10:02 PM
Can you do billet patterns?
03-02-2008, 11:54 AM
id be down for either a billet aluminum pattern or black carbon fiber weave! hope this will work out!
03-02-2008, 01:45 PM
03-02-2008, 05:11 PM
yeah, seriously!! im interested, reply sooon
03-02-2008, 08:22 PM
what would the price be
03-02-2008, 11:35 PM
^ X10. a ballpark on price would really help gauge interest.
03-02-2008, 11:42 PM
need to make some for svts. cant seem to find any good ones. dont really like the green light up ones on it now. would rather be seeing blue
03-03-2008, 01:10 AM
also, would they include the speedhut gauges also?
03-03-2008, 11:11 AM
Well, if you sent in your guage surround it will already run about $47. So with Shipping, $15 for the guage surround itself and the dip is looking like its gona be around $75 to your door.
Which I think may be a little too much for this mod but you guys let me know. Im just trying to think of parts or items that we can retail to you guys in volume but it has to be a part everyone would like to do like these guage surrounds.
Any other part suggestions and feedback would be great. Thanks guys!
03-03-2008, 02:07 PM
what about under the hood components ex: fuse box cover, battery cover, degas cover, etc, etc?
03-03-2008, 02:16 PM
sounds a little pricey, but not really too far out there in left field, considering the quality of work and the ability to get a custom pattern and whatnot.
03-03-2008, 02:39 PM
Good idea for underhood stuff. I'll look into this...
And Thanks stoopidsteve87, its true, you would have your pick of pattern.
By the way, thanks to all for the feedback!!!
03-03-2008, 03:10 PM
id be down paul. i actually wanted to talk to ya about doing some stuff for my car in the near future.
03-03-2008, 05:10 PM
thats a little pricey
03-03-2008, 05:29 PM
I was thinking it would be around 50, but yes that is a lil much.
03-04-2008, 03:50 PM
would those white-face guages be included also?
03-04-2008, 04:31 PM
yeah, $50-$60 might be worth it, but $75 is just a little on the high side for me.
03-05-2008, 01:28 AM
White faced gauges can be bought at Speedhut or S&H..
The Custom Gauge Bezel really does make the gauge faces pop... Also the ability to have it done in w.e pattern or color gives you endless customization options..
And another thing The stock focus cluster (i found at least) was really dark the black on dark Grey not cutting it... This is an excellent way to brighten things up... Would go great with there core kit thats for damn sure...
03-06-2008, 01:49 AM
It's a larger amount, but it's a good product. I'd think for the quality alone it would be worth it! I'm sure that if you had other pieces done at the same time, they may cut you a little discount on the price since it'd be a package (hopefully :-) )...but you'd have to see with them!
03-07-2008, 02:01 PM
Yeah, I agree. I think $75 is high. When I first thought of it, I was thinking guage surrounds cant be that much, and they're not, but I also have to factor in boxes, packing material and shipping charges and it starts to climb from the $35- 45 to your door I was shooting for.
Im still thinking. Pm or post ideas if you guys think of something.
Thanks for all the feedback!
03-07-2008, 03:16 PM
what about the a/c vents?
03-09-2008, 03:27 AM
You know what King Pin should do since they already have the Core Exchange going on for the Interior they should do something similar for the Engine Bay... ( I know you guys did a Lambo) Have a core exchange for that to.. You could Have Parts like
1) Battery Cover
2) Degas Cover
3) Fuse Box Cover
5) AirBox (For those With Stock Intakes.. or Maybe the Actual Intake Pipe)
6) Valve Cover
I'm not sure with the Patterk Tek stand up to the heat under the hood ?? If it does that would be a wicked idea...
03-09-2008, 04:20 AM
man they look really good...
03-09-2008, 04:22 AM
thats why u do a core charge like ya said. that way it will save the person some money. As for me ill spend whatever just as long as it looks real good.
03-09-2008, 04:26 AM
can you do all white?
03-10-2008, 01:12 PM
i want SVTs and i want em simple...
black with green numbers...thats it. i dont want reverse glow. just normal ass gauges.
03-17-2008, 03:30 PM
Well King Pin Heres an Offer I will Send you any parts you need for free if you do custom interior work for me for free but You can Get parts from me that are resonable just email me OK....
03-18-2008, 05:04 PM
man i love the look of this stuff, but alas i am poor lol. just wondering, has anyone ever done the black strips on the doors and back of the body? i think they would look sort of cool in body color/ carbon fiber. would suck when someone hits it with a door though lol.
03-18-2008, 06:44 PM
or steals them
03-19-2008, 09:26 PM
how about the top steering wheel cover done to match the gauge surrounds??
03-19-2008, 10:11 PM
03-19-2008, 10:35 PM
hey paul you thought of anything else? id love to see some of these focus' sporting your excellent work. man i wish i would have thought about it. while i had my mach hid headlights apart i should have sent you the plastic insides to dip. that would have looked pretty insane in red carbon fiber or black granite or something.
03-20-2008, 12:09 PM
What up Gonz! Its tough finding something affordable that we can just bang out.
As for the top of the steering wheel, post a pic... :)
03-20-2008, 12:36 PM
Let me know if you need some parts and i will be more than happy to send them to you
03-24-2008, 12:57 AM
this is the steering cover i meant:
the rubber part is attached though...i dont know how hard it would be to do! let m eknow thoughts!
03-24-2008, 04:36 PM
That can be done. We'd tape off the rubber part
03-24-2008, 04:46 PM
can you make SVT gauge layovers?
04-09-2008, 08:38 PM
Is all of this still in the fire or what ? I'm lookin for a dark dark fiber
I'm out to have the hvac center plate shown below.
And the gauge package bezel...not the part around the gauges, but the dash bezel itself.
I'm sure you know what i'm talkin about, I just don't konw what it's called.
EDIT: not sure if it matters, but this is for a SVT so the bezel may be different due to the other to gauges, but i'm sure the process is the same.
04-10-2008, 10:10 PM
Just got off the phone w/ King Pin today ! Awesome guy to deal with. PROPS.
Now I can see i'll driving around with some missing pieces for a while so they can take a dip in the magic tank :-)
Thanks again !
04-11-2008, 12:35 AM
How much would it cost to coat a 3 pod gauge pilllar and that steering cover i posted earlier in a carbor fiber pattern? What would be the turnaround time on that also? Thanksss!
04-17-2008, 02:03 AM
I have a question, if it is not too much to ask for. The gauges from Speedhut in the first post are in km/h. How did you manage this? I want to get gauges but it seems Speedhut will only do mp/h. :(
04-17-2008, 02:15 AM
i would be interested in a Black and red CF pattern for the overlay....but $50 would be WAAAY more reasonable, even though I have $$$ right now.....[hihi]
04-17-2008, 12:45 PM
i want an SVT gauge over lay. id be willing to pay like 80 bux for it. but it has to be perfect and what i want. lmk
04-22-2008, 03:26 PM
I guess for now you guys could mail in your speedos if you like. Or buy one on Ebay then ship it to us. Sorry, I just cant think of anything to go out and buy that will cheap to re-sell to you guys.
04-22-2008, 06:24 PM
no no thank You ! How did the parts come out ?
i'm in oregon on biz right now, hoping to come home to some sexy parts.
I have a good idea of what I want to do to the svt now. Gonna look sweeeeet,
with your help of course :-)
05-19-2008, 07:16 PM
Ladies n Gents. What do you think ?
I think it's just the right color for a black car w/ black interior. Not at all flashy but certainly attractive. So, think I should do the HVAC panel and dash bezel ?
